  1. I finally received the reviewer's score sheets. It is interesting to see such a spread in scores. I received a 74, 95, and 63. How did you guys fare?
  2. Yes, me too...That is crazy that only three awards were given! 3/171.
  3. Strange, I have not been getting the email notifications for posts on here. Anyways, I also just discovered that the fellowship was awarded to the Cal State student. I'm surprised that there is only information about one recipient. Perhaps the other schools will follow suit soon. Really...why can't they send out rejections when they've made their decisions.
  4. Thank you for calling. I guess I need to look into what Grants Online is. August...what a huge difference from when we thought recipients would find out in May. I hope the funds are there, and the reason for the long wait is not due to budget concerns.
  5. Time to give up?
  6. I am just guessing here, but maybe the status online says "assigned tracking number" until the summer when it changes to "rejected" (if that even happens at all). I think the question is more "when are the orientation emails sent out" rather than "when will recipients find out their result". I wonder if we would receive the same response if we spoke to Chantell Haskins.
  7. I honestly do not know. On the one hand, I feel like it is so very late that the invitations must have been sent, and maybe Milton is supposed to tell everyone the invitations have not been sent, until maybe like May 27. On the other hand, as mentioned before, why would he need to lie about the invitations being sent out? He did not say much, and I really was tempted to ask "Is it against policy to say if the emails have been sent out?" but I chickened out. I don't think I want to call him again, haha, I have spoke to him three times now.
  8. I just called again. He says they still have not been sent out yet, and he knows that it is cutting it close. And then he said probably by next week, which obviously must be the case since that is the last week before orientation. ARH.
  9. I hope he is telling the truth...It is not like we are asking who received the invitations...
  10. Still nothing...I tried calling again, but no answer.
  11. Thanks for trying. When I emailed in the past, it took a while for them to respond. When I called before, Milton was at his desk except maybe once, so maybe it is lunch time?
  12. I last called on May 6. If someone else wants to, call Milton Muldrow at (301) 713-9437 Ext 118.
  13. It is now less than two weeks until the orientation...Anyone heard anything yet?
  14. I have not. So, I keep calling NOAA to ask if they've sent invitations out. I also have low hopes for this scholarship. Plus, I noticed a typo in my research proposal which was really upsetting.
  15. Do you know when in May the student heard? Yeah...NOAA said they would send the orientation invitations in the next two weeks, so by the 20th. I wonder if it is possible that the invitations were sent already, but the recipients are not allowed to mention it? In that case, the only way we would know is if we keep calling NOAA and asking if they sent the invitations.
  16. I am too anxious...I called again. The dates keep changing! Now, I asked "if the orientation invitations for the Nancy Foster applicants have been sent out?" and was told that they have not, and probably will be in the next two weeks. That is really cutting it close to the orientation.
  17. My hope is dwindling...Does someone want to call Milton tomorrow and ask if the invitations have been sent out for Nancy Foster?
  18. I called Milton Muldrow again. He said the recipients will officially know from grants.gov in July. Then I asked, "There is an orientation in May though right?" and he said that the invitation emails for the orientation will be sent out within the next week or so.
  19. When I first called, I spoke to Audrey Trotman, and she told me that she is no longer the contact person. They hired Milton Muldrow as Graduate Programs Manager. His number is (301) 713-9437 Ext 118 When I first got the notifications that someone posted on the thread again, my initial thought was "Someone must have received a fellowship!" Really though...I hope we find out soon...
  20. Yes, I see that last year's official press release on the NOAA site was July 21: http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2010/20100721_scholarships.html
  21. So, remember when I responded to an email, and asked the same NOAA guy I spoke to (Milton Muldrow) when recipients would be notified? He responded to my email a little bit ago, and said "The scholarship recipients will be notified by the NOAA Grants Office in late July 2011." When I called last week, he said recipients would be notified by May. He must have not meant "recipients" in his email response.
  22. I also already have plans to see my family in Seattle during the orientation time. However, I booked my flight with Southwest, and supposedly they have no change fees, so that may be okay. I'm getting anxious again though. I started having dreams/nightmares about the results two nights ago. Does anyone want to call again and check on the status now? Blah just want to know.
  23. Just called a different person at NOAA. He said "um probably around 3 weeks".
  24. I called Chantell Haskins, but no answer. I did not leave a message. I did respond to the email from yesterday, so we will see if there is a response.
  25. Yes, I noticed that all of their past winners are all oceanography, marine bio/sciences, etc, majors. Perhaps this is the year that will change! I had emailed the fellowship regarding "if in the case of a disqualification (maybe incorrect documents uploaded), will the applicant be notified?" because I was slightly freaking out that I forgot something. Today, I received a response that "Your application is being reviewed." That did not answer my question, but I guess that means they are not done.
