I was accepted into two programs for my MFA in Fiction, but one program has better funding than the other, so I'm going to my TA interview with them. I'm a little worried though. The MFA program didn't require the GRE for admission. It's all mostly based on the writing sample, but the GRE is encouraged for TA positions. I don't know if this means that they're going to look at everyone who took the GRE first vs. those who didn't, but nothing necessarily says that the GRE is required.
I really have no problem taking the GRE now if it's not too late, if only to be more competitive. I'll admit, I was terrified of taking the GRE because I thought if my score was low it would hinder my chances of getting accepted more than just not taking it at all, but now I'm regretting it. Thoughts?
