I was also waiting on them, but finally decided to accept another offer
-
I just got back from a tough leg-session from the gym after an exhausting day at office. The acceptance email totally wiped out my fatigue!

Actually I kinda feel relieved after my rejection. Now I am secretly starting to support my friend according to whom PhD from MIT is just a waste of time since you pretty much get the same education as you get from other top-20 uni but might end up spending 2-3 years more to get it. However, I sort of still feel the pain of not being able to say "Hey, I got into MIT". Who knows may be that's all there is to MIT! And also grapes are probably very sour.

You can just ask the status of the fellowship and when you will get to know the outcome. You might not want to mention about what the POI told you as these are considered unofficial communication.

I think we might potentially see some more next week .. But I would not bet on it ..
-
I agree with "heilaw" .. it is better to assume the worst .. so if it does happen then we won't be disappointed. And if we do get in at the end, then that would be a whole different level of elation! hehe ..

My fake $100 says it will on the 6th of Feb (US 6th)

The grad roundup meeting happened on the 30th of Jan and the acceptance emails are sent a week after that. So I think next week sounds about right.

Same story with me as well. MIT is sort of a long shot, but hey it just takes a few bucks to try, right? I had a decent undergrad from Singapore and also got about a year of research engineering experience under the belt. After that I have been working for a top multinational semiconductor manufacturer on defect analysis and spent about 1 year attached to their headquarters in US. I have applied to Appl Physics and Devices and tried to show how my experience in defect analysis might be advantageous to MIT. No journal publications but the recommendation letters should be pretty good. I too have not heard back anything from them. The wait seems never ending.

Haha well you said it ! This has been bugging the hell out of me.

I think they probably can log in using both what they IMed me last night is this that for their case previously it was: 1) "This .... Graduate Admissions. You are logged in as <user-id>" now it is : 1) "This .... Graduate Admissions. You are logged in as <email-id>"
-
BTW, did you guys recently check your grad applications page: https://gradapply.mit.edu/eecs/apply/login/ ? It is probably a false alarm, but i heard from some people that their username has been replaced with their email id. MIT only emails the acceptances so there might be some truth to this statement? or they are just pulling my leg. Hehe. Mine is still userid, so a bit worried and also a little bit curious if anyone else has seen this and if this is really an indication of having been accepted.

We are all like:

Graduate Roundup is the meeting where the committee collate the list of new admits and discuss the admission results.
-
Someone replied that he/she has been accepted to MIT EECS. Is this legit? I thought the grad Roundup meeting will be held on 30 Jan?

I think the graduate school still does some basic checks .. but for all intents and purposes, yes. I think you are in! Congrats !!

Admitted to OSU but nothing about funding!!

Did you get any more information? I received similar email. Are we required to send financial docs before they consider us for funding or we can just wait it out until funding information is available? -

Hi, I have applied to Purdue for PhD in nanoelectronics. How difficult is it to get into the program? I am an internatioal student with a GPA of 3.8 (university ranked in top 30 in the world) and a GRE score of 800/710/4.5 (Q/V/AW) and about 3 months of research experience in a top research institution. What do you think are my chances of getting in??
