  1. Thanks a lot for your comments! I'm a girl, so i won't be wearing a button-down shirt, but I got the idea! it's good to have two rather contrasting views and your comments certainly helped. Best of luck to both of you in wherever you decide to go! IRGrrrad, you're in the exact same boat as I am. waitlisted af Fletcher and considering GW(with$) -What a tough situation to be in- and you know what, i visited the GW open house too! might have seen you somewhere. Have you made up your mind?
  2. Hello all! Finally, It's time to decide! ....but here's one person still waiting(that started sounding sad since last week or so...lol) and trying! I'm waitlisted at Fletcher. Got into a few other schools that i am pretty happy with, but Fletcher is my 1st choice for the fit(they offer the EXACT THING i wanna learn and do), so i scheduled an interview. I read their homepage, and still only have a very vague idea of what'll be like. If there's anyone who's done an interview with Fletcher, could you please share your experience? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Say, what to wear(do i wear suits?), how long it is, how many people come in, what's the general ambience(really casual or rather formal?), what they ask(your SOP or resume? or something more personal and not already on your file?), etc. Thank you in advance for any comments!!!!
  3. Hmm, the reason why I guessed the stats mattered was the name of the fellowship(High Honors) - it has a hint of stat-oriented criteria, i thought. My stats are 3.9X/4.0 UGPA in IR, 670V/800Q GRE..Ohter aspects of my profile, tho i have many int'l experiences and interned for the foreign affairs ministry, does not match your 2yrs of work experience, really. Or i guess, maybe they have different criteria for different fellowships, you know? I totally agree to the comment above that stats are mainly undergrad thing and there are a lot other factors to affect grad admissions/funding. maybe some fellowships are for the stat-strong, some are for work-experience strong, some are for overall-fit, etc, etc. Well, it seems like GWU did not treat you well enough, but their loss.
  4. I did get some funding from Elliot(int'l affairs MA). 17K/year, renewable for the 2nd year. I am an international student(and US resident), coming from a flagship univ of my home country, straight out of undergrad and my undergrad GPA's very high, like 97th percentile. Maybe that's one of the creteria(undergrad GPA). my GRE's not so impressive, and i have no full-time paid job experience though i do have 2 pretty good 6 month internships related to the field i wanna go into. Hope it helps
  5. Hi all, I was wondering, am I the only one still waiting to hear from G-town MSFS? (Seems like their other programs already notified their admission and scholarship descisions.) I heard back from all the others except Gtown and I need to start finalizing my decision but Gtown is not letting me. (sigh) I see many MSFS results submitted, but I haven't heard a thing from them. No email or postal mail. Is it that postal service here(I'm in Alabama) is so much slower? (I am an international student, but I currently live in the States. Seems like many international students received their decision via postal mail.) Or... is it time I e-mailed them? Wonder this means I should I prepare myself for the bad news. Thanks in advance for any comments!
  6. Hi! decided to join the forum after reading the posts for a while. I'm an international student, IR applicant, applied to a few programs including Fletcher, GWU(elliot), MSFS, SIS, etc. Reason I decided to join was because of this message: OMG!! I also applied to GWU and my app is complete but i don't see anything like 'Status CCAS-3'.... And I have a reason to freak out: my app status check page had an error for a while. It listed my undergrad school twice(yes, the same thing twice), and said a transcript from one school was received while the one from the other was not(of couse there exists only one transcript, and i sent one), therefore my app was incomplete. So, for a while, it looked like: - Application Imcomplete - Transcript: * ABC College (official) : Received * ABC COLLEGE (official) : Not Received ....weird, huh? I finished submitting everything by the Jan. 15th deadline(everything got there well before the deadline-I tracked the documents-), but the status did not change. Freaked out, I sent them an email notifying this error on the Jan 15th. No change. Sent them another e-mail again on Jan 28th. Then they changed it to 'complete' and erased the 'same college name' entry, but the status said 'your application is complete as of Jan 28th'... Wonder if this is the reason why I don't see the 'Status CCAS-3' sign. Without the error, my app woulda been completed before Jan 15th. In the same email I did ask them whether my app will be considered complete before the Jan 15th, but got no reply on that. Only got a generic reply saying 'please be patient while we upload everything, it takes a while, etc.' Could this be why? Could anyone please be kind enough to give any advice on this sit? The wait itself was already enough........(collapse) Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone who's applying!
