but this sited does not end in .ca or .fr...does it?
-
well they created banting..
-
well if they cut it even more than last year then the success rate is gonna be liek 5%. I remember it used to be like 20-22% success rate. Last year it was around 10%. I am talking about PDF...I can not imagine below 10%.

-
just checked. Toronto No
-
congrats! can let's us know how many publications u had and which area?
-
Correct. And most of the time they complete thier PhDs in three yrs. It is reall harder in North America to do PhD than in Europe.
-
PhD students in Canda produce more publication as compared to thier peers in Europe. That is for sure.
-
not really. somebody siad that they got letter of rejection yesterday
-
I doubt that they take thier time and do that. I am skeptical. A few might, but not all. I am of the opinin that some do it to put it on thier resume. It is a pitty that such persons have the power to decide on someone's future. I remembers someone writing that although he was from engineering area his application went to a reviwer with mathematical background.

The thing is that the reviewers might not be familiar with the journal impact factors. Especially if your filed is so specific and not many ppl work in that area in Canada, then it is highly possible that the reviewers have no idea about it.

BTW, if i have IRDF do I have to complete my phd before sept. 1 or it is fine after that?
-
Is it not IRDF better than PDF? At least it opens doors to companies. Furthermore, if one wants a faculty job, nowadays they strongly require industrial experience. I still do not know how they select people for PDF and IRDF because I had 8 journal papers. 3 from my phd as first author and working on 4th. In my area you could publish max 4 to 5. All in "A" journals. I am not sure if the committee really knows that the quality of the journal because they are from different area. I also had CGS D. I am disappointed, anyways.

Hi All, Just got rejected from NSERC PDF. 9 top journal publications, 6 to conference proceedings, some posters. CGS for PhD. But IRDF possible. What can I do with that? Find an industry and ask them to take me? It is probably unlikely that some industry might be interetsed in my project and pick me up. Any idea? Experience with IRDF? I will really appriciate it. Thanks,
