  1. Okay, cool, there are 2 of us now. Now how about some more? Where are the rest of you Rutgers ones out there? C'mon, there's got to be more out there!
  2. I see mgmuscari's thread asking about people attending the CS program specifically, but who else is going to Rutgers for other programs? I'll start. I'm going for Linguistics.
  3. I'll be going to Rutgers, though not for CS. I'm in Linguistics.
  4. I agree. And I was getting the sense that the general trend of the formal linguistics discipline is towards being more "functional" in nature nowadays, no?
  5. I decided on Rutgers, as I felt that the department would be more supportive of me being creative about my own research direction.
  6. Do you folks have an idea of when you're planning on visiting the Rutgers dept.? I haven't decided yet, but I was thinking it would be nice to go at a time when I can meet some of you.
  7. Does anybody else admitted to Rutgers know if there is a scheduled visit day? The email I got from the department did not mention a specific day set aside for that.
  8. ... To clarify, I used those visits as partially a filter. I definitely applied to the 2 I visited and liked, plus others, but I definitely did not apply to the one that I visited and knew I didn't like.
  9. During the fall, when I was solidifying which programs I would apply to, I did go out and visit 3 places I was interested in. They were very beneficial in helping determine a "gut feeling" of how I would fit in with the other students and faculty, and how interested they would be in my success and potential contribution to them. Two of the departments I visited met my expectations, but one of them made me feel like it would likely not be a place where I could meet my goals. So these pre-applying visits were very helpful to me in that way. As for post-applying visits, we'll see!...
  10. Yes, similarly my UMass letters of recommendation didn't show up on my status page until last week. That was also when I noticed for the first time change that it said "As of February 12th, your status is Pending." Regarding University of Chicago, I only got a decision (rejection) from them after emailing the department chair myself a couple weeks ago. So it seems like they already gave out their acceptances.
  11. Hmm... it's past 5pm here on the east coast and I don't see anything yet. I guess it's going to be another sweaty-palms weekend ahead for me....
  12. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one frantically checking my Rutgers and UMass statuses constantly!! I hope those are right that are saying there may still be some hope for us that are seeing "No decision" and "Pending"!
