  1. I mean, they may have scrounged up additional funding to keep the acceptance rate even when they got so many good proposals.
  2. Actually, now that I thought about this, I was looking at the statistics the other day, and most of the committees in past years have had an acceptance rate of around 20%. So not sure why the last score accepted is so different this time...
  3. I wonder if this is in part due to COVID and the political unrest in the US. Canadians are more committed to finding positions in Canada, whereas in the past many of us would probably end up finding positions in the US.
  4. Congratulations! A question for you or any others whose results are up: When I click on the link in my email and log in, I see "To upload your document please click here to access your personal folder." and below that I see "There are no items to show in this view of the "Applicant Libraries" document library." Did you have to access your personal folder to see your results, or were they just there on that first page?
  5. I'm so sorry, @crackers! I hope your Plan B works out way better than you could have hoped. And thanks for the intel!
  6. I'm so sorry! I hope you find success elsewhere. For the record, I just logged in and my results are not there.
  7. Congratulations! I know it's bittersweet, but at least you know now what you're doing.
  8. I have been assuming that decisions are already made and that if they had a proper system set up to automate the process, it wouldn’t be taking this long. But even if the decisions are not made yet, an automated process for creating less than 1000 accounts should not take this long. Hence the assumption that they are doing it all by hand.
  9. Oh no! They should hurry up!
  10. No idea, but... Realistically, the odds of being able to pick and choose the city where you get a research or teaching position are really really low unless you are a crazy amazing rising star researcher. I would guess that it is really rare for people to be able to pick the city they wind up in for their first faculty position.
  11. That's unfortunately a good point. I'm kind of hoping that maybe they'll announce the winners on the website, so you can at least see if you got funded, and then wait until the website is less swamped to see the scores and any feedback (not that I expect much of the latter). ETA: although my partner points out to me, rightfully, that text documents of this kind are really small bandwidth wise, so maybe this is less likely unless the server itself is an old old system and it's an issue with processing power.
  12. That does seem likely. I'm wondering, has everyone gotten their password and username by now? If they are uploading the results (but hiding them) at the same time as creating the accounts, then when the last password and username go out, they will unhide everything. But if they are creating accounts, and then going back through them and adding results, then that will take at least as long as it took to create the accounts. @Peterino, did you get your emails yet?
  13. I think you hit the nail on the head. ?
  14. Wish I had a care react. Guess I have to use my words: I know how you feel since mine took so long... but it will arrive eventually! Perhaps when business hours start up again tomorrow? (I am assuming they are on Ottawa’s schedule)
  15. Yeah, I feel you. I am on partial sick leave right now, so I have nothing to occupy my mind...
  16. I finally got my login info about an hour ago. I submitted to committee 6, my last name starts with “B”, and I submitted my application right on the day they were due.
  17. I have not received funding through SSHRC before. I did get the email last week saying that they would be sending results this week, so I know they have the right email address on file... trying not to be a nervous wreck. ?
  18. Oh, and.... Good luck, everyone! And please let us know when your results show up.
  19. Thanks, @DevsChick, @meowzers!
  20. Oh, hey, what is the email address of the sender? Might help us find these emails in our inboxes more easily/make sure they haven't appeared in junk.
  21. I have not gotten either email yet... anyone else also missing these emails?
  22. I am sorry if this is too personal, but... your former advisor has no right to make you make such a promise. That’s a pretty awful thing to do, TBH. If you want to keep trying for four years, go for it. But if finances or mental health require you to switch to industry sooner, you shouldn’t have any burden of guilt for doing so, and your former advisor should support you in making that decision.
  23. Plan B is to keep applying to postdocs and faculty positions. If that is getting me nowhere, I will consider applying to jobs in industry.
  24. Ugh. My partner rightfully points out that the way this is phrased, they might not send results until Friday next week. In case we were looking for a whole week of anxiety to complement the bouquet of COVID worries.
  25. That’s a good point. To be honest, time has basically lost all meaning thanks to coronavirus. I didn’t even realize it was already Friday.
