Hi duncandam!
Thanks for your post. I was actually looking at a few places in the area around Mail El stop and found the prices to be reasonable. you mentioned it is a nice area... If you have time, would you mind telling me a bit more about the area? Is it safe? Are there a lot of coffee shops around? Are there grocery stores? Is it residential or are there restaurants/shops etc.?
Many, many thanks in advance!
Hi guys,
I'm a very awkward sort of person and going to an office of the cerebral gods I so admire (my profs) is very daunting... I also felt very awkward buying any sort of gift in the first place... But! I do think I should do something. So... A card for sure, but can anyone think of something else that is very non-awkward and non-committal... Chocolates feel so.... utterly over the top romantic (in my case anyway). Advice: much appreciated.
I am working at a retail store (selling) and it is awful that I have three whole months left here! Now that I know where I will be doing my PhD (Northwestern whoo hoo) it's been hell trying to do well at work! I dream of dusty books and infinite libraries... I never thought I'd say this, but I yearn to write a paper! Instead, it's three more months of "Hi, can I help you find your size? All of our shorts are on promotion this week!" Sigh.
Hi everyone!
Am going to Northwestern for German Lit and Critical Theory. I am very excited!
Now, what's all this about not living in Evanston? I was hoping to live as close to Uni as possible... Not a good idea??
I got into the English program at UT but I won't go for sure becasue I did my MA there (and my BA as am matter of fact).
I might visit UNC/Duke (yep, joint German) in a few weeks. I am visiting Penn and Brown in a week or so. Those are my top choices, and unless I get a bad vibe from both, I probably won't go for UNC. I still don't know, though. It's so tough to decide there things. So many factors: city, faculty, etcetc.
I got in to Penn Comp Lit & Lit Theory. I got an informal e-mail about a week ago, and am told that my official letter is in the mail. Good luck to you.
