Hi Sue, thank you so much for sharing your experience. Frankly, this does seem to be an issue. The department itself sounds like my dream team but then again, if the degree itself is not held up to par with other Media Studies phds then that is a concern. Did this concern effect your reason for not applying there for doctoral studies?A few posts went up today stating that they received rejections via mail:( I have not heard yet.

thanks so much for the insight, sue - and congratulations on the generous funding offer! i have had some great experiences with nyu department when i visited last year. does anyone think that there would be any draw backs from graduating with an interdisciplinary degree such as a phd in media, culture and communications (nyu)? ive heard criticism that it is a less competitive degree upon entering the job market? i guess i could be jumping the gun as i havent heard from my top choices yet... good grief.

ive just found this website and after reading these posts have let out a great sigh of relief. many of us are still at the edge of our seats and i suppose misery loves company! i applied only to 2phd programs penn's annenburg school & nyu's media culture and communications program. i didnt get into upenn but im trying to be patient about nyu but i really havent heard a thing. do you suspect they wait to send out rejections after sending out acceptances and short-listers?! oh im so worried. anyone have any insight??
