Hi to you all. I hope the application/decision season has been kind to everyone.
I am an American that has been accepted at both York University and University of Ottawa for development studies MA programs (at U of Ottawa it’s called ‘Globalization and International Development' and at York U it's called 'Development Studies').
Does anyone have an idea about which of these 2 programs might compare? I have found it pretty difficult to get a handle on how these programs stack up against each other. I know they both have pretty small programs (between 20 and 30 students in each class), and I understand that Ottawa is the center of the humanitarian aid and development ‘industry’ in Canada. Besides that, I’m a little unsure as to which offer might be more attractive. I have yet to receive finalized funding packages in the mail, which will make a big difference; assuming the 2 are comparable price-wise after funding info arrives, which program would you choose if given the option to enroll in one or the other? I would really be kicking myself if I chose the 'lesser' of the two programs because I hadn't been able to hear some outside opinions from some people in the know.
Thanks very much for your opinions and thoughts on this, and good luck for those of you still waiting on Canadian admission decisions! Looking forward to moving North…
