  1. Can you elaborate on this? As in, can you comment more specifically on the Univ Village and Rogers Road apts? I'm an international student and it's not possible for me to search for off-campus housing, so basically campus housing is the only option for me. Thanks
  2. Anyone lived in grad/family housing at UGA? Any info/opinions on the University Village and Rogers Road apartments? Thanks
  3. disjecta: I got an email from the grad school on March 5 saying that I had been accepted, and an email from the DGS on March 12 saying that I had got an RAship from the graduate school. However, I applied to the MA, not the PhD, so there might be a different timeline for evaluating PhD applications. Have you tried emailing the DGS to ask what's going on? Anyone else have any input on UGA? The Eng dept specifically or the university in general? Thanks.
  4. Hi all, It looks like I'll be going to MA program at UGA. They've given me RA funding (my only funded offer) and they seem genuinely enthusiastic about me going there. I'm an international student, so visiting the campus isn't possible. I was wondering if there are folks here who have gone to UGA (even if it was for undergrad, or in some other discipline) and can tell me about the place -- about the English dept or the university in general. As in, did you enjoy your time there? Is the dept friendly/supportive/etc.? I'd appreciate any input! Thanks
  5. Anyone know if MA students have been notified one way or the other? I got the first email from x@umd, but nothing further, and my app status is still "pending." A related question: does UMD ever fund MA students? Do you guys know anyone who did an MA there with funding? I'm not terribly hopeful about it, since they're barely able to fund a handful of PhDs this year, so I'm sure they have neither the money nor the inclination to fund MAs, but I'm just wondering if it's happened in the past. Anyone know?
  6. Yeah, I almost deleted it thinking an email from "X" is probably spam. I mean, x@umd.edu? Couldn't they find anything better? Also, they're admitting fewer students so they can better "service" them. What are we -- machines that require servicing? They could have just said "serve". No thank you, ma'am, I don't need servicing
  7. I got the same email -- I assume everyone did. It wasn't very helpful... it's like they're stringing us along. My online app status still says "pending".
  8. Ok, I just learned that I've been accepted at BC (for the MA program) but waitlisted for funding. The DGS said it'll be mid-April by the time he'll be able to tell me for sure about first-year funding. My question is: I've got a funded offer at another school, but I would prefer BC. But I have to either accept or decline their offer (my only funded offer so far) by April 15, so if BC won't know if they can fund me till mid-April, what should I do? There must be other people who are/have been in this position. How do you handle it?
  9. I emailed the DGS and she replied that the letters will be sent out next week.
  10. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post about MFA programs, but I thought MFA and English applicants probably overlap. So, anyone know if the Cornell and WashU MFA programs have notified candidates yet? Or when they'll be done with their decisions? Since it's March 8, I'm not very hopeful, but still thought I'd ask.
  11. I've applied to 7 master's programs. The results search shows that some other MA programs have also been notifying applicants. I expect we'll hear from the rest pretty soon. Good luck!
  12. Hi everyone, I'm sort of afraid to ask, but my online app status at OSU still shows "AcadReview" while several people have reported being accepted via website, starting from Feb 12. Does this mean they're reviewing applications in rounds, or does it mean I probably haven't gotten in? thanks, N
