  1. CONGRATS!!!
  2. I just got back from spring break to find out that I was awarded South Africa ETA for next year
  3. Nothing today for south africa
  4. No, I didn't receive anything today (NYC - Chicago)
  5. I cannot get my mind off of the notification... Rereading the post, how can does Fulbright decide what notifications to send out? Why would certain notifications be sent out and others not? Different countries? Full versus ETA?
  6. WOW, finally! Thanks Loli for doing this. Good luck everyone!
  7. Yeah, I thought so - Loli or Nakasa (sp)? Anxiety galore!
  8. South Africa Applicants (and Sub-Saharan Africa) - has anyone talked to Jermaine lately? I emailed on Monday and he said notifications were going to be sent out "later this week". I didn't want to bother him again...
  9. Depends on where you are. I think from NYC to Chicago should take two days (so hopefully Thursday - Saturday). Did you talk to Jermaine today Loli?
  10. Looking forward to hearing your response! Fingers crossed that they go out today, rather than tomorrow (I'm going to be gone from Sunday - Saturday), frustrating.
  11. Teej T - Haha, I would've done the same. Does anyone want to email him on Thursday/Friday to find out what day they were sent out? I hope they send them out on Thursday, I leave for spring break on Saturday afternoon!
  12. Awesome, thanks Teej T
  13. Okay, here is the text of the email - I hope to be able to issue hard copy notification letters (via the U.S. Postal Service) by the end of this week for most of the candidates to Sub-Saharan Africa. Regards, Jermaine Jones Program Manager, Africa and the Middle East U.S. Student Programs He definitely leaves a lot to be wondered. I would imagine that they are going to start sending both ETA and Full. Does someone want to follow up with him mid-week?
  14. Does someone want to follow up mid-week?
  15. Just received an email from Jermaine Jones. He said that notifications will be sent out toward the end of the week for "most" candidates, whatever that means
  16. Sub-Saharan Africa Applicants - I emailed Jermaine Jones today and I'll repost his reply... just so we all don't email/call him today.
  17. Ugh! Well, the best we can do is occasionally check in with him? I'll email him on Monday... I was hoping for some good news for the weekend (i.e. they were sent out).
  18. Loli or Teej (any other African candidates) want to email Jermaine Jones tomorrow? April 8, 2010 he responded that they sent notifications out.
  19. It was my understanding that all of the countries had to submit their candidates to the bureau before the bureau would send out notifications, but looking at the spreadsheet, it seems like all of the bureaus have sent out at least on countries' notifications....except Sub-Saharan Africa (and Middle East/North Africa) (?) How is everyone dealing with anxiety (and don't say, "It's out of your hands, just sit and relax")?
  20. Debbie downer! You're quite the realist, let's hope that you're right (no "or so")
  21. Hm, frustrating (a reoccurring theme of the past few weeks). I just want to be persistent and "keep on him" for a lack of better words...Reading this forum is a blessing and a curse, it makes me anxious, but it also answers a lot of my questions. I hope we find out when they found out the last two years, April 11th - 12th!!!!
  22. Any Sub-Saharan Africa Applicants want to email Jermaine Jones? I emailed him on Monday (and the previous Monday)... I don't want to be "that guy". Any takers? jjones@iie.org
  23. Haha. My email: "Hi! I know that you are probably being inundated with emails regarding notification of full and ETA grants, but I was wondering if you had any information about when notification letters for the South African ETA where going to be sent. I know that last year candidates received them around April 12th. I was just trying to work with my graduate school to defer admission, if I were to receive the ETA and they need to know as soon as possible. Please let me know!" Again, her response: You will receive notification from Washington. Things are a little slower this year due to budget constraints. Thanks, Francinah Tabea Magoro Regional English Language Office U.S. Embassy I'm not opposed to continuing to pester until I can find out some sort of timeline. I'll send another email to Jermaine at the end of the week. Please post, as always, if you do the same.
  24. What????? That's unbelievable. No consideration for other opportunities (said "backup plans")? I have to tell my grad school by april 15. I've expressed this timeline and received the same generic response.
  25. South Africa Applicants, Not to come off as a hyperactive, anxious wreck ("join the club", right?), I received this reply from Francinah Magoro. Her email is on the contact page underneath the description of ETA/Full .... I emailed her the same day as Jermaine Jones: You will receive notification from Washington. Things are a little slower this year due to budget constraints.
