My pleasure! I feel bad emailing him (I sent him an email last Monday too), but as Loli said, they have to know something. Do they get an email from the SA committee and then make the mailer? I would've thought (hoped) to at least have a timeline...
South Africa - I emailed Jermaine Jones today, knowing that last year they found out on 4/11, thinking theoretically they should know something if we were a week out, and he still has no information!!!!
Check out the previous post, there is a spreadsheet to keep everyone updated on decisions this year and there is a 2010-2011 spreadsheet floating around too. As for the contacts, look under each individual country for a contact email: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/program_regions_world.html
Teej, that's terrific! Let's hope we find out soon (again, I sound like a broken record). I have a hunch or maybe it's just hope that we would find out by next Friday (April 8th). Last year, per the spreadsheet, they found out on April 11th, which is puzzling because it is a Sunday. So, odds are they found out the 10th and just waited to update the tracker? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I definitely feel the anxiety of the other applicants. I cannot believe it is only March 31st! I cannot bear to wait two more weeks...what is the delay?! I really dont want to nag the IIE people, but I feel like they should be able to give us some information!!!
ETA - so anywhere! If I were to receive the scholarship my hunch is that I would not be Johannesburg or Pretoria... I remember reading somewhere that they do not like to place ETAs in the capital(s) but I could be wrong. You?
Frustrating, I know. Last year applicants for South Africa found out April 11th. I wonder how soon the IIE office finds out prior to the sending of packages? More clearly - when IIE is notified of the choices do they immediately send out the packages or have decisions been made and they are waiting?
Nakasa & Loli - I applied for South Africa as well. I emailed Jermaine in February and then again on Sunday with the same answer. I thought stressing the need to make a decision due to notifying graduate schools of possible deferrals would receive some sympathy (for the lack of better words) with no luck. If it's any help, last year's spreadsheet shows that South Africa was notified on April 11th.
Anxiety/frustration continues...
