  1. Yes--I applied for an ETA to Russia (perhaps therein lies the difference?), and was sent on to the next round. I have a language interview this Saturday morning with a very-friendly-sounding administrator in Moscow.
  2. Hi everyone, quick, very broad question--does anyone know the sort of content of the language interviews? (I'm specifically doing Russian.) I was just wondering if it's like an interview would be for any standard application--describe yourself, why do you want to do this program, etc.--or if it's more focused just on making sure you understand and speak the language. If anyone has experience. and in any case, good luck to everyone interviewing. (Also, anyone else on here applying to Russia?)
  3. Recommended for ETA to Russia. Anyone else in the same or a similar boat?!
  4. Hey, this may not be helpful, but I'm also an ETA applicant to Russia, and I have heard nothing on language interviews.
  5. Undergrad, actually! Any other Russian applicants here?
  6. Sent in my app for Advanced Russian, also a first-timer.
  7. Thanks for the info. And from what I've gathered, it seems like internship opportunities in the region are fairly scarce?
  8. Also, if anyone knows any good options for summer study or work related to the region, I'd really appreciate suggestions for that. (I already figure I'll apply for a Critical Language Scholarship in Russian and probably to Middlebury).
  9. Question specific to the Harvard program. Does anyone know on general how many people apply to it? I know on their website they say they usually accept 10, which is a scary small number, but could potentially be less scary if there aren't that many applicants...
  10. ^Thank you very much for the info! Like you said, I'm only a sophomore and it'd probably be very unhealthy for me to start hard-core freaking yet, but it's still fun to start getting information together.
  11. Howdy all. First off, congrats on your admissions, that's awesome. I'm a sophomore undergrad strongly considering M.A. programs in this area, and am sort of starting to consider options; Stanford in particular is one of the schools I'd be interested in applying to a little further down the line. Let me know if I shouldn't be asking these questions, but 1) what programs did you apply to and what attracted you to each of them? and 2) what makes a competitive application? Anywhosit. Congrats again on getting into CREES!
