Huge congrats Monster, that's awesome!

Or, as my dad says, getting a PhD is just getting "Piled Higher and Deeper." He's been working on a (non-history) PhD for something like 9 years now.

I just finished Heretic Lives - a little misleading, because its actually just biographies of a few important Medieval heretics, not about the lives of actual heretics at all. Oh well - husband bought it for me at a used bookstore, and he had the right idea.

I like talking about Medieval history! Not so much football, but I'll talk Flyers hockey. Or Phillies! Actually, its much too late for me to be commenting about anything.

Big congrats! I live in Philly right now and its a great city. In other news, does anyone know what to expect from NYU this month? Do you think acceptances/waitlists have all gone out?
-
I'm not a Spanish historian, but I LOVE this.
-
Congrats! Couldn't agree more.

About M.A. to PhD at the same school: I just got accepted to Fordham's M.A. program, and I won a distinguished fellowship for 4 years (the M.A. is only one year). They expect me to apply to their PhD program. I'm really thrilled, and I wish everyone else the best of luck. Its crazy how one phone call can totally change everything.
-
Oh geeze - an NYU admit is up. Actually, 2 admits now.
-
Happy Leap Day everyone!!
-
His email also said that they admitted 6% of applicants overall this year, which makes it sound like they already admitted everyone. I have no idea though, and it does seem weird that there aren't waitlist people.

I'm the medievalist who posted that I heard about my Columbia rejection from the director, but it was actually one of my POIs - I was confused about his position within the department. He said that official rejections would come in a few weeks but he just wanted to let me know that I wasn't in. I hope this helps.
-
I'm one of the Columbia medievalist rejects. My POI said that they only gave an offer to 1 medievalist - what happens if that person doesn't accept? Does the school just not have a new medievalist that year?
-
I'm kinda a lurker, and I've applied to Princeton and Columbia. Like everyone else, haven't heard anything from either.
-
I've been mostly silent - and none of my schools have posted anything - but this thread is riveting. Big congratulations to everyone who's been accepted! I hope we'll all hear good news soon.
-
Thanks so much - this is a great thread.

I'm new to this thread (I've been a silent observer for a while), but what do you mean about NYU's process?
