I gor my rejection letter in the mail about a week ago, maybe a week ago. Pretty sure they on the interviews and such.

A friend of mine got accepted to CCA painting a few weeks ago.

Update: (Painting) Just got an email about 15 minutes ago from VCU. They are doing interviews tomorrow and Thursday over the phone.

Yeah, that offer does sound kinda odd. I wonder if it is similar to the post-bach thing they do at SAIC. It really seems like it is when they like your work, but just not enough to let you into the program. I think you would be better off take a year off and reapplying if that is really were you would like to go.

I finally received my rejections from UCLA and Columbia (Painting) UCLA via an email link, and Columbia via snail mail.

I cannot confirm this, but a friend of a friend was apparently accepted into UCLA in ceramics about 2 weeks ago. Like I said, I have not talked to him personaly, but I have no reason to think it is not true.

It is so annoying that some of the schools wait so long to send out rejections after they have made there picks. I hope they have a real reason for doing it that way, and not just because. Anyway, I guess we should all know by early next month, I will be glad when I know what is happening for me this fall.

Well, if it is helpful... A friend of mine did get excepted at Portland state for Social Practice and he does not think he will be going (funding issue), so that may be one extra spot open for ya.

VCU told me they will be getting together to make a "short list" mid-march" and be conducting phone interviews the 3rd week in march.

I will have to agree with you about UCLA and Columbia. Everyone I have talked to say that the end of March, start of April for for both schools (Painting departments) is when we will be hearing stuff. Anyway, good luck to everyone.

I did not apply to Parsons but from everything I have read on here, and my own experience with other schools... they do not update the online app stuff in a very timely manner. SAIC still says they are waiting for my transcripts, hehe. Not sure I would trust the schools site for tracking your app, but perhaps Parsons in more on the ball.

To keep with the same vain as the last post this is an email I received 3/4 Dear Applicant- Thank you for your inquiry regarding the status of your application to the Department of Painting + Printmaking. We are still reviewing and evaluating applications as this time. Our faculty will meet in mid-March to determine a "short list" of candidates to be interviewed by phone (we will not be inviting applicants to campus). Phone interviews will be conducted during the third week of March, and applicants will be notified of their status soon thereafter. We understand that many applicants would like to know their status as soon as possible, and I assure you that we are making every effort to conduct our admissions process in a timely manner. We have experienced a significant and unexpected increase in applications this year, and we are working diligently to make our selections and provide applicants with admissions decisions.

Is it time to be concerned if I have not heard anything from UCLA, Columbia, CMU, and VCU yet? I figured if I had an interview, I would have heard something by now. Do they tell everyone at once? Perhaps I am just holding out hope that they are just waiting to tell me I got in....hehe

Oh man... no news from UCLA or Columbia for me. This just adds to the list of rejections. I know schools like you to be out of undergrad for a bit, but I was still hoping. Now it is all down to my interview at SAIC and praying for something good from VCU. CMU is kind of last on my list, but that is assuming I have a list left...hehe

Does anybody know how many spots (painting/drawing) UCLA and Columbia have open. A friend of mine told me VCU is looking for 6 students this year. Thanks

I got a letter from SAIC about 3-4 weeks ago saying that they got my stuff (on this forum seems to be called the "cryptic" letter) And about a week ago got a letter requesting an interview. So... not sure, but that is what I got. Justin

Oh... and does anyone know which school do interviews and which ones do not? I posted my schools a post or two before this one, but in general for everyone. I only know that Yale, SAIC, and Northwestern DO interview. Thanks

I have not visited, but a friend of mine did and was very impressed. From talking to him and admin, the studios look to be around 300-350 sq/ft. (WOW!!) Overall sounds like a solid program.
