  1. So It's 12:01 May 19th and the website for Kent State has finally changed from "Applied and Complete" to "Decision Made" :-D! I'm IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I had to wake up my parents and tell them. lol Now just to wait for the aid package and figure out how I'm paying for this. And of course... how to let down my other offer gently..
  2. So... I just got an email from the Fin Aid office at the school I'm still waiting for requesting some more info for Financial aid... But no word yet about acceptance. Should I call the department? :-D I'm trying to contain my excitement in the possibility that I won't be accepted (again) but it's very hard...
  3. I kinda told my one school that I would tell them by today.... I emailed the prof I know and have been working with for this saying that I still haven't heard anything but i dunno what to do now.... *sigh* Limbo/purgatory here. Srsly. and it sucks.
  4. Ha! Tried reading light novels. It isn't helping. pretty much can only do solitaire right now. well that and bite my nails. Added to my problem is that while I'm waiting to know from one school, I have another school (where I've been accepted) that's waiting for my decision. ugggghhhh! Advice?
  5. I am -totally- feeling your pain. I think a little piece of me dies every time the mail comes and nothing's in it for me right now. Ugh!
  6. I'm in the same boat as everyone here. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Checking Kent State's website 2 times a day hoping that it'll be different. But alas not yet. I was accepted to one program but without guaranteed funding. So I'm definitely going -somewhere- this fall but hopefully somewhere with funding.
  7. Ok so I'm bumping this up because I -still- haven't heard anything from kent. Website still says "Applied and Complete" like it has since I finished getting all of my pieces into them. ugh! So please let me know if you've heard either way. At least my other school is willing to wait for a decision but this is getting kinda ridiculous. .
  8. Lol I wish it were over for me. I got an extension from one of the 2 schools I applied to (Yes I know, only 2?! But my field is very limited in the US and I didn't want to go abroad) so I could wait for that second school to give me a decision. Prob is that School A didn't give me any first year funding. *sigh* Keeping my fingers crossed.
  9. Has anyone who's applied to Kent State for any program or specifically one of the language/translation MA's heard anything yet? I called on Monday because I have one offer from another school, but w/o first year funding, and was told it would be within a week or so. So I was just curious. This wait is near killing me.
  10. Ooo! Which language track? I applied for German but I also work with Japanese. Are you trying to get a TA-ship/funding as well? I can't remember if this is one of the schools that automatically offers one or not. UMass I had to apply for a bunch of scholarships, which was fine.
  11. Nope still nothing. I'll post when I hear something from them tho. What program are you trying for at Kent? BTW Update on my stuff: UMass is prolly ok with giving me an extension to decide though. Which is nice. (Also nice knowing the program head on a first name basis lol) If I went to UMass I'd be considered instate (there was some ambiguity over this in the winter. ) So cheaper rates. But I still want to hear from Kent too.
  12. Have you head from Kent yet? *nail bites* I'm still waiting myself for any word. I'm hoping I hear something before the 15th since I have been accepted to another program though w/o first year funding so I'm hoping Kent will be better.. Not sure what to do if I don't hear before the 15th...
  13. Hi So While i'm still waiting to hear back from Kent State (hopefully before UMass' April 15th deadline. which is a whole other issue. lol) I thought I might ask if anyone has ever gone to Kent for either translation or any of their language programs or anyone who's gone through UMass' translation program? I went to UMass as an undergrad and know a few of the teachers I would be working with, but I only know one of my potential prof's at Kent and very little about either program or what Kent is like in general. So any advice about either would be great. Especially if it helps making that April 15th deadline easier. Ugh! I will never understand why we have to decide so early... EDIT: OK So I wasn't going to ask this but it seems that Kent -is- actually on the list of colleges that are bound by the April 15th deadline thing but their application deadline wasn't until "Early March" so I don't know what that means to my application.. Help?
  14. Hi! I can't say anything for the Microbio program at UMass other than that their science departments are all awesomely funded but I went to UMass as an undergrad and they are one of my choices for grad school in the fall (for Translation). It's a great area with lots of wonderful stuff going on. It's very easy to get involved in the community no matter what your interests are. I would talk with the graduate adviser of the program/some of the professors to see what they think of the program. And of course any current students too. Lemme know if you have any general questions though. I'm sure I can help with those.
