  1. Dear all, I've searched online and it's difficult finding a concrete answer. Does anybody know what a typical stipend from UPMC or ENS is paris would be (based on personal experience or what you've heard)? Specifically in the sciences. It's strange to me that the schools do not really mention these figures. Thanks in advance! -Jane
  2. Dear all, I could really use some advice as I am doing this for the most part on my own. I applied to the Dept. of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at Cambridge and have been given conditional acceptance given that I can secure funding by the end of July. I am an American citizen (so I'm an overseas applicant and I have higher tuition fees). I have applied to the Cambridge International Scholarship and St. John's Benefactor's Scholarship which are both scholarships from within the university and cover both the stipend and tuition. I have also applied to Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds which is an external scholarship that pays for just the stipend. I recently heard that I did not receive the scholarship at St. John's which I'm very disappointed about, but now I'm starting to get a big worried. What if my opportunities for funding falls through? I will hear from the other two scholarships by July. At this point, I'm doubtful that I will receive the FULL Cambridge International Scholarship as I can see on their website that many have been awarded already. Perhaps I will be given a fee reduction. So at this point, I'm depending heavily on receiving the Beohringer scholarship. I passed the first round of selection and according to what they told me, they will be selecting about 10 out of the 50 remaining candidates, which is pretty scary. I think I would be absolutely devastated if I were not able to secure funding. I applied to two other schools in Europe, but I am unsure about my acceptance. Do you know of any other scholarships I can apply to? Or do you have any advice for a plan B? For example, I believe I can defer my acceptance by almost one year to gain some time for other funding opportunities. Any help here would be very welcome. Many thanks, Jane
  3. I couldn't give you a certain answer, but I agree with ZebraFinch. I would still apply because you never know. Maybe keep your school selection broad. Have some backups.
  4. Hi everyone, I took the GRE november 14th and I sent my scores to schools at the test center. I know it's only been 5 days, but it still says "Absent or not available" on the website. Does my score show up only after they've graded my essays? Should I be worried? Will my scores be sent to schools in time for the Dec 1st deadline? Many thanks! Jane
  5. Hi everyone, I took the GRE twice First time v162 Q159 Second time v157 Q163 Should I send both scores to schools or just one of them? I'm applying in neurobiology/computational neuroscience Thanks! Jane
  6. Hello! I will be applying to grad school for neuroscience/neurobiology soon in both America and Internationally. I have several schools in mind that I have been researching in England, Australia, Canada, Germany, and Russia. Can you recommend any international schools with great neuro programs (not limited to those countries)? They would have to be english-speaking. Thank you! Jane
  7. I've really been wanting to live somewhere outside of the U.S (almost anywhere!!). Can you recommend any great international neuroscience/neurobiology programs? Thank you, Jane
