A few questions: 1. How much debt are we talking about? 2. What's your source for the claim about there not being enough projects? 3. What do you mean by MBAs are comparable? MBA and Ph.D. programs (RAND's included) are two very different types of training. The "end jobs" are not the same. How many MBAs become senior level researchers? How many policy Ph.D.'s become CEOs, COOs, etc?

Crazy. If that's the case, there was a very low number of gradcafe users/results posters admitted. -

Talked to the MIT grad coordinator today. 1/4 of acceptances were sent fedex, 1/4 via telegraph, 1/4 via smoke signals, and 1/4 via horse-drawn carriage. delivery times may vary. -

I don't see any evidence here that implies anything...aside from the fact that they sent you a form email. -
really? I guess I missed that section in the FAQ pages of the Harvard and Yale sites.

Postmarked April 24. I live in Rhode Island.

I just got an acceptance letter today for Kyrgyzstan. I suspect that the other Central Asia letters are in the mail.
-
I've been monitoring the board for some time and still haven't seen anyone post anything about Central Asia. Anyone else waiting to hear? I called the Fulbright office today and was told that my particular country hadn't yet made decisions...
-
For anyone waiting on Central Asia, I called last Thursday and received the generic "two weeks" response. Probably doesn't mean much, so please post if you've heard otherwise.
-
Has anyone heard anything about CENTRAL Asia?
-
Thanks for info on central asia. I've applied to Kyrgyzstan.
-
to address yet another degree of uncertainty- when do people who are accepted find out about the CLS option? Does this usually come with this initial acceptance, or later on?
-
Anyone applying to central asia hear anything yet? I know that central asia applications are dealt with as a group by the U.S. state dept. but I'm wondering if individual countries notify at different times...

I'm wondering if someone might be able to provide advice about what programs to look at if I'm hoping to pursue a career related to defense planning and spending. I'm especially interested in focusing on U.S. military-industry interactions. Would a phd in political science at somewhere like MIT make sense, or should I be looking at public policy phd programs? Would an mba/ma combo be out of the question if I'm more interested in non-profit or government work than staying strictly within academia? Any thoughts (especially suggestions about specific programs and individuals to look at) would be MUCH appreciated!
