I hope you're right but why did my advisor tell me at the beginning of the semester that I had to get a 3.0 GPA to continue? Was she trying scare me into bringing my grades up?

OK, I checked the guidelines. It says here "Prior to advancement to candidacy, if your program GPA falls below 3.0 in any semester, you will be placed on probation. If you are placed on probation any two semesters, you will automatically be disqualified from the program." Does this only apply to domestic students or all students???

I'm an international student doing a graduate program in IR. This is my first semester. At the beginning of the semester, my advisor told me that I had to get at least a 3.0 in my first semester or else I'll get kicked out. So it looks like I'm going to get 2 B's and C this semester. Is this the end of the line for me? Is there any way I can stay in the program? I've heard from a lot of fellow grad students (international as well) in different programs that they don't have the same requirement. They just get placed on probation if they fall below 3.0. Some of the policies regarding GPA seem really confusing and contradictory. I just emailed my advisor and am waiting for her reply. What are my chances? Thanks.

So I'll be starting my IR program at CSU Fresno this fall. Because of my low GPA and lack of work experience, I could not get into a higher-ranked school. So I'm wondering how much is a MA in IR at CSU Fresno worth? What would my career prospects be like with a degree from a school like this? Say in the government sector? Or international business sector? Non-profit? I know I'll be up against tough competition from graduates at the top schools. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

So I've always been under the impression that you don't get the same kind of financial aid in grad school as you did in undergrad. However, a coworker of mine recently told me about his friend who received a tuition waiver at Cal State Long Beach for grad school. I think it was a university grant or something but he told me to go fill out a FAFSA. I might as well do it but is it going to me get any kind of aid?

Hey there. Yup, I went to UCI. I want to stay close to home so I'm only applying to schools around the Socal area. Also, going out of state is out of the question for me due to my financial situation. I'm not planning to get a PHD so that's why I was wondering if I could get a good job with an MA in IR from CSU Fresno since I will have to compete with graduates from the top schools. My question is whether it's worth it to get an MA in IR at a school like CSU Fresno since prestige matters in this field. Also, what would my job prospects be like if I graduated with an MA in IR from CSU Fresno? Thanks in advance.
