    SAIS JHU '09

Yessss, count me in!!! IR here.
  2. yes, I have and was wondering the same thing.... BTW, your stats look similar to mine, I mean mine's lower (can't even remember my GRE Verbal score, Q same, GPA about same, no econ/quant during UG) but I have 6 yr WE as PO at govt agency on int'l development. Don't think I'll make the funding either, just eager to know my results.
  3. but it's nice to know they're actually reading my app and didn't cut me off because of my stupid GRE scores...or did they?
  4. WishinnHoping, same for me... it's 3AM... I should be going to bed already, but I know I can't sleep... I thought I'm over this (I'm in SAIS), but everyone around me keeps bugging me about SIPA... and thanks for the 3% info. I keep jumping up every time I get their blog entry e-mail. How lucky we are to be the last 3%!!!
  5. thanks for the input, jpa! it's very valuable to hear from someone who's actually visited the schools bcs I can't go myself.
  6. well, it's not integrated per say, but according to their website, they state "All candidates must concentrate their studies in two programs, one of which must be International Economics " so you'll definitely be taking Int'l Econ. http://www.sais-jhu.edu/academics/degre ... centration For my personal preferences, I'll PM you later, but I totally agree with energie. It's all about what you want to study specifically, other preferences if any, and your future career goals.
  7. Tolo, no, I STILL haven't heard back from SIPA... but SAIS was my top choice so it's okay now. I have no idea about the switching-concentration thing, but I would go through the website again, then ask them directly to make sure. As for the Econ prerequisites, yeah, it was really hard to find but they do mention it's okay as long as you complete it pre-enrollment. http://www.sais-jhu.edu/academics/non-d ... /index.htm jpa - I'm taking the online course. Would love to go to the pre-term if I could afford it...
  8. iwantgradz, I'm so sorry......
  9. Hi tolo, congrats and great to see you again. Looks like you've done really well this round, good for you! About the English summer program - nothing mentioned for me. Instead, they reminded me I had to take Macro/Micro Econ enrollment prerequisites. This could be a factor, considering my iBT was 113, not too different from yours. But if it was a recommendation you don't have to take it, right? About the concentration - same story as you, don't know if I made it into my first choice, but I'm optimistically assuming I did bcz I applied for IDEV which has capped enrollments as well. Can't wait for the package to arrive!!
  10. I'm in too!! Almost can't believe it  I think my waiting to hear from SIPA for a brutal 3 weeks payed off or something.
  11. hey, count me in the waiting club! and for those of you who got in, congrats!!! for thos of you who got waitlisted.... I'm truly sorry to hear that.... but at least you can get your priorities straight. keep the heads up!
  12. I'm still here... can't believe they actually still give out rejections after this long wait... I wish they looked at this forum and figured out how so many ppl are saying "got in but ain't going bcz it's too expensive", so that they just give the rest of us waitlisted, at the least yup, I'm day-dreamin'
  13. N O T H I N G !!!!
  14. OUCH, sorry to hear that
  15. Hi Tolo and congrats! I haven
  16. I'm so sorry to hear that Baryon... At least they told you you're good! and you sound like a strong candidate with your stats and experiences, which must mean you'll do good at others. I'm getting ready with my list of things to say to them if they reject me too... which I think is the case bcz I doubt I'm considered for any funding and if at least one of the guys on the committee already said no, well, I don't think my stats are strong enough to revoke that. I know, I'm over-analyzing, but I've been waiting for a good week and a half and this is driving me CRAAAZZY  Anyways, I've started noticing more "I's" or "Internationals" on the result page, and I'm an international too. I hope some of you who got your results already reads this. If you did, can you share your TOEFL score on this thread, whether rejected/accepted? I can see the other stats on the result page/threads but I never see anyone sharing their TOEFL score. I know a friend who didn't score that high and went to SIPA (but 5 yrs ago...) so I'm just curious to see how much the TOEFL thing matters. Thanks!
  17. 040404: I know what you mean. I don't think I'll be as excited about the others... or maybe not?? right now, I'm starting to get sick worrying about the others. I really want to go to Maxwell's welcome weekend, but its a bit too costly for me with the international flight and all... I wish I knew about ALL the results right away so if there are a several schools to choose from, I can go to tour around them. Are you going to the welcome weekend or have you gone to the US to see any of the schools?
  18. 040404: Congrats!! I can feel your excitement from your words! Cornell07 or FSIA or anyone: I'm appying to Cornell's MPS/International Development, which is in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It seems to be less structured compared to the other famous IR programs, but it allows you to take classes from all over the university and build your own specified program. Nobody seems to be talking about it and I'm looking for more info besides their website. Would you happen to know anything about it? light: I think I've seen acceptance posts for Tufts/MALD on the other threads. I'm also waiting for GW/Elliot but haven't seen anything yet. Sorry, don't know about the others.
  19. Same here, really hard to say... My top priority is to get into a program that has strong career services, especially bcz I'm an international student, and that's what I'm wondering about Syracuse. You hear highly of their Public Admin program but the IR doesn't seem to be as strong... or am I wrong??? Besides that, although I haven't had the opportunity to communicate to their admin officers, it seems like a really nice school and I'm already starting to imagine myself being there. I feel I'll recieve a lot more personal attention there than the other big-city/large cohort schools which is a big plus for me. Program-wise, my dream school would be SAIS, but I have no econ background, and I fear if I was lucky enough to get in, I wouldn't be able to keep up with their rigorous quants, but quants and econ is exactly what I need to enhance my career... anywayz, yes, Syracuse is my first choice for now.
  20. Thanks happyhulalola! and congrats back to you. I'm so relieved too. When I was doing my applications, I seriously thought I'm not going to make it to ANY of the schools so now I have something to rely on. I hear the same about Syracuse... how cold it is!!! I'm starting to wonder if I should look for good snow boots cuz I hear its covered in snow for most of the winter... But just to cheer you up 040404, I used to live in NJ and although it was extremely cold, it's actually quite warm inside the buildings so you'll learn to survive
  21. Very interesting and encouraging to see many people interested in microfinance. That's going to be my specialization, if I successfully (hopefully) get into any of the schools. I don't have much knowledge or experience on microfinance, but I want to learn about it since it seems like an approach that could actually reach out to the real poor, in contrast to the large-scale government projects I used to do. But as everyone pointed out, I don't think it
  22. me too!! but I'm still waiting on the other programs...
