  1. I actually received a letter from the Graduate Department on April 4th stating the committee had recommended the Graduate school give me admission into the Fall 2011 class. However, I still haven't heard anything...I made a phone call a couple weeks ago, and supposedly they were still working out the financial/stipend support for everyone. I am starting to get nervous being it has been a month, and I haven't received anything else in the mail. Currently, I check my e-mail about 10 times a day, and call home from work to check if anything had arrived in the mail. I hope my letter and everything else comes very soon...ie tomorrow.
  2. I applied to a PhD chemistry program, and received a letter on April 4th from the Graduate Department stating they were pleased to inform me they had recommended that the Graduate school admit me into the Fall 2011 class for their program. In addition, the letter also stated my official admission would come directly from the Graduate School. As of today (April 27th), nothing has arrived in the mail or shown up in my e-mail regarding my official acceptance. I e-mailed the graduate recruiter a couple weeks later to check up on the situation (just in case my letter was lost in the mail), however, he told me they were still situating out the funding/support. Is it possible the Graduate Department wrote a generic letter, and there's a chance I will receive my official letter and funding from the Graduate Department rather than the Graduate School? As well, does it appear that I have been accepted? Finally, has anyone else been down this road, and how long did it take for you to receive your official letter after receiving your informal letter of acceptance from the Department? Thanks all; I feel as if I may just be impatient, but I would truly appreciate any helpful information! P.S. - I am from the US, and did apply to a US PhD program.
  3. I also applied to a PhD program at the University of Alabama. I received a letter from the graduate department stating they recommended the graduate school admit me into the Fall 2011 class. I received the letter on April 1st, and still haven't heard anything official from the graduate school, nor have I heard anything regarding funding or financial aid. I realize your posting was nearly 2 weeks ago, but have you heard anything back from Alabama?
  4. KreacherKeeper, I appreciate your input, that makes me feel much more comfortable! Hopefully everything arrives in the mail shortly. Thanks again for your help!
  5. Hey all, I am in a similar boat, however, slightly different. I applied to a PhD Chemistry program and actually heard back from the department stating they had recommended I be enrolled in their class for the Fall 2011 semester. I received this letter on April 1st, and as of today April 25th I haven't head anything back from the graduate school pertaining to my admission decision. I had e-mailed the chemistry graduate recruiter a couple weeks back, and he stated they are still determining financial aid. So, is it possible I will receive both the graduate school admissions letter and financial aid award at the same time, and do you think this is the cause for not receiving anything from the graduate school yet? As well, how long does this usually take? I assume it's different for every school, but could you please provide me with any input! Thanks!
