  1. That is pretty awesome - even in this market, I wonder, or is this statistic from several years ago? haha
  2. I guess it is all perspective because I've never made more than 36,000 a year, so 50k would be awesome for me! Besides, we live off my husband's salary, mine would be pure extra fun & more savings.
  3. Hi everyone, Basically, I'm switching fields and I know to work in social work at any sort of decent job, you need to have an MSW. However, I am very nervous that I will graduate with my MSW and it will still be impossible to find a job. Does anyone have any insight as to how the job market is for NEW MSW grads? I know it varies by region but I am interested in any input at all. I know people say there will always be a need for social workers, and yes that is true, but in this economy and job market, it is hard to know whether or not it will be fairly easy to find a job as a new MSW grad. I already have a masters in criminology, and I just don't want to waste my time. Any input? Thanks.
  4. Arthur1 - I think this is a very optimistic career plan. I had the same goals; however, as you know, the federal government is pretty much broke, and almost all federal agencies are not hiring and won't be hiring for the foreseeable future. I already have my masters in Crim and I speak Chinese and have lived in China for a year. It's not doing me any good whatsoever, as no one is hiring!
  5. Generally speaking, can anyone tell me how the job market is for new MSW graduates? I know it varies by region, but if you have any insight at all, I would really appreciate it. I already have a masters and am switching fields to social work - however, I am scared that I will still not be able to find a job upon graduation. Any insight? Thanks.
  6. I was accepted, too. I am worried about the job outlook though. I already have a masters (in criminology), though you know to work in social work, you need an MSW. My original career goals aren't working out due to the federal government not hiring, so I need to switch gears, and was thinking an MSW is the way to go. However, I am really worried that I will graduate with an MSW and still not be able to find a job. Does anyone have any information on the job outlook or job finding rates of MSW grads?
