  1. I know this a bit premature, but I was wondering (after reading lots of posts) if anyone thinks I have a chance at getting into a masters for biology? I have yet to take the GREs (I am a poor test taker), low gpa (3.4), with over 5 years experience in 2 types of labs (worked all throughout undergrad), 1 publication (+ posters/conferences) and maybe i can squeeze in 1 or 2 more this year... and i have a crap ton of extra curriculars since I also want to do DO/MD..though i doubt those matter much in grad school. will post again later.

  3. as someone who went through the rigmarole of premed/mcats... you do not need research unless you want MD/PhD. actually, if you just want the MD you could do clinical research and get some patient contact while your at it!
  4. Thanks for the replies! I guess, when i searched that same page for specifics like "molecular" it brought results many in the midwest. Will keep truckin
  5. ok one last thing: I'm looking for MS not PhD. Why is it top schools (overhwelmingly) do not offer masters? penn, princeton, to name a few, do not offer masters in the bio sciences. why is this?? GARRRR >
  6. oops, i did say "top tier' sorry!.
  7. ok,mm maybe i should've mentioned, I;m not looking for the Harvard's or MITs.
  8. Hi, upon looking at the rankings for grad school on USNews Report, I was disappointed to learn very few of the top/mid range schools are on the east coast- a place i'd ideally like to stay for the duration of my grad school years. I know rankings are not everything, but I'd really like to NOT have to be in the middle of the US or other coast. How can I reconcile my need to stay near home and go to a school with good programs in the area I want? Ps: Im looking in Biology (MS). What have you looked at?
  9. I don't come up with, unsurprisingly, too many hits on the whole "which books/software are best for New GRE prep?". I have used NOVA for MCAT prep..It was very strong in most places. PR was "OK" for MCAT. ... What do people think of NOVA, PR, vs Barrons (never used) for GRE? Thanks alot! I've already received Kaplan, but not too impressed.
  10. "and I've heard the new one has more trig (I think?). A" there is no trig on GRE, from ETS says.
