  1. Well that's good to know, although I'm a bit confused. Did you receive the formal hard copy letter? I think I got it early last week, and it definitely made it sound like funding decisions had been made. It offered nothing particular to me or my circumstances but seemed to make more of a blanket statement of the chances of funding for MA students being nonexistent. I guess I'll assume no funding for me, but hold out some hope that what I saw in the letter wasn't definite/everything there is to know. UNC slow pokes!
  2. flygrrl - I was admitted to UW-Madison as well. When I got the formal (hard copy) letter it specified that financial aid decisions had been made and most of their aid went to returning and PhD students. It's not clear if you are applying for PhD or MA programs, so I don't know if this helps. I haven't heard anything about UNC Chapel Hill - how do you know about the welcome event? I think I remember reading something on the forums somewhere about a UNC event, but I understood it was for PhD applicants (again, that may matter to you as a PhD applicant, but if you are applying for the MA, it's not much help). I'd love to hear an admissions decision from UNC so I can move forward with the decision-making process on my end ...
  3. GorillaGirl: I applied to Media Studies and Academic/Research Track Journalism (master's) programs at UW-Madison, Syracuse, Indiana-Bloomington, Michigan State, Univ. Missouri, Univ. Minnesota & UNC-Chapel Hill. What about you? Pinecones: I don't know anything specific to Pittsburgh, but it seems that master's program acceptances are running a couple of weeks to a month behind PhD acceptances. UNC-Chapel Hill sent out PhD offers at the end of February, but won't make all of the master's decisions until "later this month." Hope that helps - if even a little!
  4. I called UNC-Chapel Hill and asked if all admissions decisions had been made and was told that no, only some had been made. I'm guessing they are deciding between wait-list/reject, because 03/19 is coming up pretty soon and they would want all admitted applicants to know about the welcome weekend sooner than later, I would expect. That's just a wild guess, though ... trying to rationalize this seemingly random process.
  5. ...and anyone hear from UW-Madison yet? I know they sent an email saying results would be posted by tomorrow (March 4). Also haven't heard a peep from Mizzou since the beginning of January, and, nothing from UNC-Chapel Hill, even though others have posted results (of all kinds) from them on the results board. Does anyone have any experience with MA programs offering funding for visit days/open houses? It seems typical for PhD programs, but I haven't come across anything specific to MA programs. Glad to see the Comm board is busy these days. Thanks.
