I think this email is a slightly better sign than what I just got... Thank you for your interest in attending Skowhegan. I am sorry to report that we cannot offer you admission this summer. We regret that the number of applications makes individualized notification impossible. The selection process this year was exceptionally difficult, as we received over 2,000 applications for 65 places. I got a phone call from Amy Hauft yesterday. She let me know that I was accepted. They are offering a free ride + 4800 fellowship per semester.

Thanks everyone for your insights. I wrote to the admissions office and found out that I was 'definitely at the top of the list' and that I would be notified in a couple of weeks or as soon as a space opened up. We'll see...

So - I've been wait listed at my #1 top choice. Is there anything that I can do to help my chances? Has anyone else been in this situation before? Is anyone else in this situation?

USC has done interviews and chosen their top 8. I am on the waiting list

I had an interview at USC on the 1st but haven't heard anything since then except that they have chosen their 8 already

I had some additional questions: What do you think is a good critique of your work / bad critique? Why/ how did you choose the people who wrote letters for you?

I received the following unsollicited email of 2/19 from VCU: Hello! Thank you so much for your interest in and application to the VCU Sculpture Department. I am writing to observe with you that our deadline is a bit late in the grand scheme of things (as in: other schools' deadlines). Additionally, once your materials are received, it takes time before they become available to the Admissions Committee for deliberation. As a consequence, please don't expect to hear from us regarding your application until late March or early April. I promise you that we are carefully considering your dossiers and portfolios with care and intimate attention. You'll hear more from us soon. I promise! I got an email on the 26th and a call this weekend with a follow-up call to happen in an hour and a half. I am under the impression that they do interview all candidates but I can't say for sure.

Hello - I am trying to prepare for MFA interviews at USC Roski ( a phone interview which will take place tomorrow at noon) and an interview at Yale at the end of the month. I applied for Sculpture. Has anyone been through this interview process before and know what to expect? I normally get very nervous and inarticulate in high stress situations and so I'm trying to prepare the best that I can. Anyone heard anything about UCLA Sculpture MFA?
