Hey guys, So I'm a first year PhD grad student at a ~45th ranked school (according to the us news rankings). I'm thinking about transferring, not because of the ranking, but because I'm very interested in studying anything and everything complex ( distribution theory, Riemann surfaces, complex manifolds, multivariate complex functions....), and my current school doesn't offer much of it. I actually got a high pass on the complex analysis PhD qualifying exam at the end of my first year, and my school doesn't offer any more courses. My question is: What non-top 10 grad schools have the best complex analysis programs? I'm more interested in schools that I have a reasonable chance at getting into, so don't worry about mentioning the top 10 (although after seeing what Michigan offers I'm gonna give it a shot anyway). To let you guys know where I'm coming from; I had a turbulent undergrad experience, and could definitely have done better than the school I'm at right now, so to try and make up for it I've got a 4.0 going on my graduate record (8 classes=24 credits), and along with the high pass for the complex analysis PhD Qual, I've also gotten a high pass on the (prelim) analysis qualifier, and what's looking to be a pass on the (prelim) algebra qualifier (pass is PhD worthy, high pass just means you did very well). I'm confident I've impressed my professors enough to get good recommendations, especially from my complex professor. So what do you guys think? Any recommendations or comments? Much appreciated, Chris
