  1. I agree--I have much less anxiety when I know the timeline. Seeing as programs know their schedule, it would be helpful if they posted that information or shared it with applicants. That way I would only check my e-mail compulsively on days that I was expecting to hear from a school, rather than doing so every day until I hear from every school. I haven't been anxious about Nebraska this week as I know I won't hear anything until next week. The same cannot be said for those other schools...
  2. For those of you in the same boat, I have a little splash from UNL. Upon inquiry I was told that the review would be completed this Friday (March 6) with notifications going out next Monday (March 9). I'm not sure if that will be via postal mail, e-mail, or phone call. I would not count on the online system (GAMES) being up to date, as they don't even update all application materials that have been submitted. Good luck!
  3. Was Texas Tech the safety school? I applied to their creative writing PhD as one of my (several) safety schools, and was also surprised not to be admitted. I have a strong creative writing background and Master's, although I know they let in some people from their creative writing Master's program and therefore have less space for outsiders. I applied to eight schools last year and only got into one (Boston Unviersity), but without funding. In this second year I applied to fourteen schools, many of which I considered "safety" schools. Although, this year I was rejected from BU and waitlisted at a school that outright rejected me last year, so things do change from year to year. My number of remaining schools has dwindled from 8 yesterday to 5 today (plus two waitlists--fingers crossed). Good luck to all with your remaining programs!
  4. This is my first post after browsing the conversations for a couple of months. It's strange to address other applicants to Carnegie Mellon's LCS. I wanted to state that I also have heard nothing regarding my application, although I'm encouraged to read that we may find out this week. I am very anxious waiting to hear from my remaining schools (still waiting on 8 of 14). I'm also curious to hear from you Carnegie Mellon folks: where is CM on your list of schools? Is CM towards the higher end or more of a "safety school" (a concept which has thoroughly been debunked)? I'm not sure I stand a great chance here. I would love to get into CM but I know there are many qualified applicants. Perhaps you all stand a better chance than I do? Good luck, and let's hope we hear this week!
