  1. That is good to know SDM, it means the letters are moving! I hope yours was successful Cheers!
  2. I think everybody who would have heard from their university has already heard. The rest of us are waiting on Canada Post, and they do not deliver today.
  3. Whereabouts are you? Ottawa?
  4. For those of you who are stressing about the wait list: In 2011 I applied for a PGS-M, and was informed that in april that I was on the waitlist. I got another email in June saying that I was successful, and was in fact awarded a CGS-M. So it does happen, but you won't hear anything until June. You might as well stop stressing about it and enjoy yourself until then! As of now I am waiting on a PGS-D letter in halifax... Hopefully the mail was sent out this week so we hear something soon!
  5. One thing that can happen is somebody gets a NSERC CGS, but wants to take it up outside canada. In this case they are only allowed a PGS, so they can decline the CGS to accept a PGS. At the doctoral level the difference is thousands of dollars, so if a few people do this, another PGS award opens up. Also, situations can simply change. They apply thinking they are going to grad school, something comes up in life, and they decide not to.
  6. Even if the decisions by the selections committee have been made, it still could depend on the federal budget. They may have ranked all of the applications in order, but the cutoff ranking will depend on how much money they get to give out scholarships. This is simply speculation, I have no inside information on the process.
  7. Congratulations you guys Do any of you know what the various status's mean on the NSERC page? Last time around when I successfully got a PGS-M my status never went to 'approved', I only saw 'recieved' once the university forwarded it on. I am just wondering if the 'approved' status is something different, or if I should be worried that mine only says 'recieved'. Cheers!
  8. My NSERC webpage updated from 'Submitted' to 'Received' sometime yesterday, but I have not recieved an email from the university yet. Hopefully this means I am through the first hurdle! (applying for a PGS-D through Dalhousie University)
  9. I was originally turned down with the letter dated march 18th saying 'Meritorious application but below capacity to fund', however I received an email June 3rd saying that funds have become available and I am getting a CGS M! I am in physics with no published papers. I don't entirely understand how I can be turned down entirely for lack of funds and then get the CGS M, rather then only PGS M, but I am not complaining. Anybody else had this experience?
