Just wanted to thank you for your response. My "when will we receive more info" question was in regards to general info about when classes start, and what incoming students need to do to prepare. Where I come from (state school), info is hard to come by, and if you snooze you lose. I received more info from MGH yesterday and today, so I'm good now. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond. I hope you have a great day!

A few more things that are on my mind as I make plans: 1. Do we need to get CPR certified before school starts, or will they offer us a chance to take care of that when the need arises? 2. What time do classes/in-house clinics usually start during the week? 3. What time do classes/in-house clinics usually end? 4. Does the school have lockers? (If not, I may need to invest in one of those roller crates for carrying books between home and school) 4. I received an email to notify me that my deposit was received and more info would be forthcoming. When will I get more info? (i.e., at what point should I call the Department if I haven't received more info?) I hope everyone is doing well

Who here is taking summer prereq's at MGH? I am not, so I'll be fresh meat in September. I've started some planning, and noticed that the academic calendars for the next few years are posted on the MGH website. I was happy to see them so that I could give my family some idea of how often I'll be coming home for visits. I'm thinking of renting a room somewhere off the Newburyport/Rockbury commuter train line, like in Chelsea, Lynn, Swampscott, or Salem. It looks like the rents in those areas are relatively reasonable and the train runs frequently, even on the weekends. I see that none of us here so far are from Boston... but does anyone have any insight as to good/bad areas to look for rooms/apartments?

Hi! I'm excited too I was thinking of starting a new thread for our class, then noticed yours. I'm in California, this is going to be a HUGE move for me.
  6. Hey! Sorry it took me a few days to see your response. I decided not to attend UTA, in part because I couldn't get any solid answers on whether I could benefit from in-state funding. It all worked out in the end, though. I'm going to MGH! Best wishes at UTA, and thank you for taking the time to provide the information above. It's been really nice the way everyone has been looking out for each other over the past few weeks as we worked through these decisions
  7. My temp and perm addresses are the same, so I can't answer your question. Just wanted you to know that someone has seen your post.
  8. Congrats to you, too! Maybe we should set up a Goole+ conference the first week of April to share info on the programs...? Have you visited either school yet?
  9. I totally wouldn't mind talking about MGH after I go. In fact, if you want to PM me some questions, I'll take them with me and try to get them answered while I'm there. I will be visiting Vandy, but I haven't pinned down the date yet. I haven't contacted the Department yet about my acceptance (I just got the official letter in the mail last night), but I will call over there sometime in the next few days (after I have some available travel dates). I was in the middle of making arrangements to go tour UTA, but I'm thinking I'll skip it now... Have you visited UTA?
  10. Congrats to you as well! I just noticed that you have been accepted at every program I have been accepted at. Too funny! Are you going to the MGH accepted student info session? I'll be there- I got a friend to fly out with me to spend the weekend. It'll be my first time in Boston
  11. Re: Vandy... I emailed Lyn Smith and heard back in under three hours. I got in, which is pretty much a dream come true for me. I will wait for all funding possibilities to come out to make my final decision, but I am very much leaning towards Vandy even without funding. I will be moving to Nashville from California, so I'll be looking for a roomie. Anyone know if there's a facebook group or another forum thread open yet for people who are starting Fall 2012?
  12. It is definitely proper protocol to notify each school you have been accepted at whether or not you will attend their program once you have made your final decision. Regarding your POI issue, if I were in your shoes, I think I would send the prof a "thank you" card to show gratitude for the person's time and consideration during and after the interview, and you can also mention in the card which school you have chosen to attend. This way, you're letting the person know of your decision but it doesn't have to be the main subject of the correspondence. P.S. It's not a stupid question. We're all new at this.
  13. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Congrats on all the great acceptances and best wishes!
