  1. Is Arabic an important language to be studied or spread in the United States? Is it importatnt to the national securtiy of the United States? Is it important for being the language of more than two hundred millions around the world? Is the States interest in the language coming out from the fact that the number of those who speak the language is risisng in America? Your thoughts and points of view :?: :!:
  2. Someone got rejected from U Penn two weeks ago i guess. I applied to the same dept and still have heard nothing. What does that mean ? which decisions usually got sent to students first? admitted or rejected?
  3. thanks a lot for you help and time. Good luck to you too.
  4. I applied to three schools in Dec, got rejected from one in feb and still waiting to hear from the others. Hope this waiting won't go in the wind.
  5. My major is English but i am also interested in Near Eastern Languages, any schools with late deadlines or rolling admissions?
  6. dude I will apply to anything related to those topics: English, Arabic, religions, Islam, Judaism.....
  7. Please if you know any schools with rolling admissions or so very late deadlines like in April, May or June,,, Help me out. Ps: My interests: Near Estern Languages and Cultures. Religions like Islam and Judaism,,,
  8. I didn't get a bad score on purpose. My major is linguistics; i am not very familiar with maths to do well on the quant. Some of the schools in the states only require the Toefl test from internationals, which is fair. I will get acceptance from one or two of the schools, but not because of the GRE, it is the only weak think in my apps.
  9. GRE test seems to be culturally and linguistically biased. A lot of American and British students flunk the test or i should say don't get decent grades in GRE. This applies to the three sections of the test; verbal, quant, and writing. I believe it is ok for internationals to be exposed to the exam, but still it is really not fair to let their grades decide for their applications status. I am fluent at two languages and I really had hard time in the exam, you won't believe it, it took me only 2 hours to complete the test, simply coz it was not worth it wasting time, trying to do the questions of the test, i would have got nothing out of it!! What do you guys think ??
  10. I will never get a decent score in GRE in my life but i guess i will get accepted one day at one of the schools, it is just a part of your app and some school don't really consider it.
  11. Thanks guys for your replies, i knew it, but you know sometimes you try to look for any rays of hope. I applied to different schools too, but i don't know why i really wanted badly to go to the one that declined me,,, i just asked because this school doesn't have waiting lists as far as i know. I guess what screwed my app up is the GRE test.
  12. This is my first posting and unfortunately i am writing it after i got declined from IUB i've just got a question,, what if few students declined their offers? do you think they reconsider declined applications? Ps: Their reason to decline me is that they got so many applications this year. Good luck to all, Sam
