  1. Hi, I hope you're well. My girlfirend is applying for a Master's in Social Work graduate school program in California and would really appreciate some help. She is mainly looking for tips and expertise; her grammar is rather excellent already, but of course, additional feedback is always appreciated. If you can help, please let me know. Thank you very much, Vic
  2. I just took my analytical writing GRE recently, and it went pretty smoothly. I think I'm a decent writer, but don't write very well under pressure. That said, the time allocated wasn't too bad, though I panicked a bit near the end when I realized my essays weren't as good as I was hoping. I found a good Web site that has an essay for literally every single prompt that you could possibly be writing about tomorrow. Check out the Issue essays at http://www.testpreppractice.net/GRE/awa-samples/gre-issue-essay.html and the Argument essays at http://www.testpreppractice.net/GRE/awa-samples/gre-issue-essay.html. The essays aren't very well-written, but you can get some logic-related ideas from them. Hope this helps!
  3. Hi, I'm still trying to get the hang of the Issue essay for the GRE that I'm taking tomorrow. Is there a good place that I can just read a bunch of these essays? Thank you.
  4. Thank you very much for the reply. I have no problem sitting through the examination, but it would just be nicer if I could leave. If nothing else, my allergies have been kind of bad these last few days, and I don't want to be sneezing and blowing my nose, while will most likely distract other test-takers.
  5. Oh, trust that I've read that FAQ on the official GRE page at least two to three times. If you can point to the specific question that my answers are included in, I'd be very surprised (and thankful!).
  6. I'm thinking it depends on what type of graduate school program you are trying to attend. I'm interested in Public Administration and the adviser - who will also be looking at the applications - told me that a 6 is a whole lot better than a 5, especially if the other parts of my application (e.g. letters of recommendation, GPA, experience) are not very strong.
  7. Hi, I'm taking the general GRE tomorrow for the first time and have a couple of questions. By the way, any tips related to the Analytical Writing essays would be great. So far, I've only studied the McGraw-Hill's GRE 2010 Edition textbook. 1a) Do I get to choose which section between Quantitative, Verbal, and Analytical Writing I can complete first? 1b) Do I get to choose which essay - between the Issue and Argumentative - I can complete first? 2) I only need to complete the Analytical Writing part of the examination for the graduate school for which I am applying, so I do not plan to even touch the Quantitative and Verbal sections. For those two multiple-choice sections, can I just leave the room and tell the proctor that I do not wish to complete the other sections, or do I have to sit there idly? Also, do I actually have to complete those sections? Any information related to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
