  1. I would lean towards the first option, because I'm considering pursuing a doctorate after I get my master's and would want the resources and research opportunities that come from a larger program. If the smaller program still has those features though, I would definitely consider it...graduating debt free would be amazing. While we're discussing funding, does anyone have any insights into how funding waitlists work? I'm on IU-Bloomington's and plan on asking at their open house, but am curious if accepting earlier improves your chances of receiving funding or if they're ranked.
  2. I think they should give you a scholarship for your pain and suffering!
  3. Oh my gosh! Congratulations on your acceptance! I hope they apologized to you...that must have been so stressful.
  4. I think my tour guide said 108 people attended. Edit: oops, I thought you asked how many were there. I had a really wonderful time! We were split up into small groups with a current graduate student and got to go to different tables to talk with the faculty. It was basically like academic speed dating! We also took tours of the different labs in our small groups. Then there was a Q&A session with current students. The students said the atmosphere between them more collaborative than competitive. I was very impressed by the facilities (a downstairs lounge with a kitchen for the SLP students!) and how approachable the faculty was.
  5. Good for you for doing that so quickly! It's so important to follow your gut and let schools know as soon as possible so the spot can go to someone deserving.
  6. Congratulations! My cousin attends Radford and she's had really positive things to say. It sounds like it's a beautiful campus!
  7. Were you caught totally off guard? I would have probably ignored a number from a random area code at that hour! Congratulations on your acceptance! That must have been such an exciting phone call to receive.
  8. Northwestern said decisions will be released by mid March.
  9. Definitely. I wasn't expecting to hear from Western Michigan University until the last week of March and was pleasantly surprised to hear from them today. It definitely helped lessen the blow from being rejected from UW-Madison. Hopefully this week brings good news for all of us!
  10. I agree...that post about UW-Madison on the results page is very alarming, especially since so few people have posted results from them. I guess time will tell.
  11. I am so anxious to hear back from UW-Madison! I'll be attending the Northwestern open house this weekend and my parents want to stop in Madison afterwards. It'll be my first time visiting Madison and I'm scared I'll love it and won't be accepted. I'm hoping that the admissions timeline this year is consistent with last year's. I received my acceptance from IU on Monday (so excited!) and UW sent out several decisions a few days after that. Fingers crossed! Congratulations to everyone who has received acceptances! Hang in there everyone!
  12. I agree. I would understand if the decisions on the results survey were all admits (to court the all stars) or all rejections, but the fact that it was a mixed bag made it more confusing. Hopefully we'll be put out of our misery soon!
  13. Agreed! I am so anxious. My stress induced eye twitch is back in full force.
  14. I'm going to buy some fancy Kate Spade stationary to write my thank you notes on. I'll probably treat myself to lots of unhealthy food, too! On the impractical side, I would really like another pair of Frye boots...this could be dangerous.
  15. I received an invite to Northwestern's open house and think I'm attending as well. It coincides with the start of my spring break, so I figured why not! At the very least, it's an excuse for a mini trip to Chicago. (I'm from Michigan, so it's not too inconvenient.) If this was one of those ploys to make you think they're being more selective than they are, I bought it and am excited!
  16. Update on my CSDCAS Academic Update status: I submitted my information to CSDCAS on the 15th, my transcript arrived on the 25th, and my academic update was verified yesterday on the 30th. The turnaround time wasn't too bad!
  17. Purdue's deadline for transcripts hasn't passed yet! If I remember correctly, it's February 15th. You still have time, Trina.
  18. CSDCAS did not email me when I ready to use academic update, so I totally blanked on resending my transcript with fall grades. Hopefully there isn't too much of a delay for them to recalculate my grades. Moral of the story, don't rely on them to send you the email and send your updated transcript ASAP!
  19. I have a hard time accepting compliments, so I think I'd feel embarrassed if I read what people wrote about me.
  20. Good luck to everyone finishing applications over break! I finished last week and am so relieved to be done. I kept a spreadsheet totaling my expenses and the grand total came to $878.55! That includes taking the GRE, registering for it again the night before I took it and freaked out (ha), sending my score reports, application fees for six schools, and sending everything with tracking. I've decided I'm not going to look at my statements again. What's done is done!
