I wrote one and was rejected. (I am a high school physics teacher and have a master's in science education, and am planning to start a Physics Ph.D. in the fall with a focus in physics education research.)
Is it generally possible to defer grad school (Ph.D.) admission for a year?
(I've been accepted, but in order for us to be able to move to the new city, my fiancee has to find a job there, and this is a hell of a year to be looking for a job; it's not clear we'll know anything by April 15.)
So if the letter of acceptance says:

So if I'm going to a Ph.D. program (where tuition is already covered), can I use an AmeriCorps Education Award for anything? (I don't suppose I could have it paid towards tuition and then have that amount refunded to me?)
