Hi y'all, I've been lurking in the history forums for awhile and I was hoping you guys could help me with something. My friend's birthday is coming up and she's someone who is considering graduate school. Her interest is in 19th century US Cultural History... which is unfortunately outside my field. Do you guys know of any "must reads" in that time period that aren't too boring/off-putting? Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I'm doing a west coast to east coast move (car-less) so I'm planning on shipping my stuff in two really big boxes. USPS is $106 with 8 days, FedEx is $165, and UPS is $176 and they both take about 5 days. The time my boxes will spend traveling doesn't matter but do you guys know any other companies that are trustworthy? I know USPS is a lot cheaper but do they tend to damage/lose stuff (most of my stuff isn't delicate but I don't want to lose it is the main point)? If anybody has any experiences with shipping stuff cross country please share! Thanks in advance!
