  1. not yours, the revieweds
  2. lol I literally thought those comments were April fools jokes. They can't be serious. I do seriously feel I got trolled though, but it looks like this has happened in the past?
  3. Not recommended. Senior undergrad at Princeton. 3.9 GPA. Hertz finalist. E/VG E/VG VG/VG I don't understand how I didn't even get HM lol. Comments were strange and contradictory. One guy said "stellar letters of recommendation" while another said "letters were not strongly supportive." What? One guy said "lack of publications." I'm a undergrad with a first author journal paper in a high impact factor journal. can you expect more than this from an undergrad? This last one was so strange "lack of research experience, but excellent outreach." He must've gotten that backwards or he's trolling me or he's just a dumbass. I got nailed for formatting by all 3, which was legit. Didn't know they cared about that. Some positive comments: "Impeccable academic and research record from Princeton." "Stellar letters from members of the national academies" "Excellent outreach" lol'ed hard at this. I didn't talk about outreach at all since I didn't have any consistent experience with this. Idk who's ass he pulled this out of Some other negative comments "Letters were not strongly supportive" lol this guy...troll? "Organization lacks in appeal" apologies, I've never been known for fashion. "Lack of research experience" I don't even fucking....bertstare.jpg I will not be applying again after reading these comments. I'm more disappointed in that they appeared to not have looked at my app based on the very peculiar and contradictory comments than not receiving the aWard. Also can I file complaints about reviewers? I honestly don't care about the reward since my offers at schools are bigger than NSFs but I do want to find out how some incompetent guy managed to review my app. Congrats to everyone else.
  4. Just checked my mailbox and to my pleasant surprise was my GRFP offer in cash. Seriously? You guys make the biggest deal about troll posts
  5. Last years is not available but previous years still show up
  6. Yeah...no. I fail to understand how that would be funny
  7. I think you're going to enjoy UCSB a little too much though.
  8. I'm assuming you post refers to the angry posters that keep disliking people's posts. If that's the case, I agree.
  9. Lol some kid said he got the grfp on the results page today.
  10. I thought it might help out future users to see a compilation of acceptance rates. This statistic might have been revealed to some of you who attended graduate student visit days. I only attended 3 visit weekends, so please add to this if you can. Include university name, department, year and semester you applied for, and acceptance rate. University of Michigan Aerospace Engineering - <10% for Fall 2014 (13% for Fall 2013) Cornell University Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering - ~12% Fall 2014 Northwestern Mechanical - I recall in the high teens, but I'm not very positive.
  11. Does anyone know when Gatech and UIUC's Visit days are? Or have they already passed? I'm in aerospace engineering, but I think aero is scheduled to be the same with the other engineering disciplines.
  12. So I only saw a couple UMich aero acceptances on gradcafe. Not sure if this is because that a lot people who were accepted didn't post, if UMich didn't accept many people this year, or they haven't made most of their decisions yet (this last one seems most likely since I haven't seen any rejections either on gradcafe). Visit weekend starts this coming Thursday. Is anyone going?
  13. Nice. I wonder what's taking them so long with the others.
  14. Has anyone heard from michigan or heard of someone getting a notification?
  15. How about trying to save space? Does that work for you?
  16. When ETS sends your scores, do they send just the average of the issue&argument, or do they also include the individual grades? Since there's no 0.25 increment, would a score of 5&4.5 on each section be averaged and rounded up to a 5 or truncated to a 4.5?
  17. Is it necessary to add extra space between paragraphs? I know the answer is no, but what I'm really wondering is if it earns you some brownie ptns.
  18. How soon did your guys' GRE scores show up online after your testing? I'm growing horribly anxious as I want to find out what my AWA score is already.
  19. Sweet cool, after I wrote the one regarding there being a cost associated with a HS course, I got a little worried that that might not have been a assumption that I can exploit since high school courses are free, although driver's ed was not in my experience. I think the author implied it was free, but didn't explicitly state it, so I hope it won't hurt me.
  20. The prompt is: "All students should be required to take the driver's education course at Centerville High School. In the past two years, several accidents in and around Centerville have involved teenage drivers. Since a number of parents in Centerville have complained that they are too busy to teach their teenagers to drive, some other instruction is necessary to ensure that these teenagers are safe drivers. Although there are two driving schools in Centerville, parents on a tight budget cannot afford to pay for driving instruction. Therefore an effective and mandatory program sponsored by the high school is the only solution to this serious problem." I am asked to state the assumptions.... I had several that I stated, but a couple of these seems a little obscure. One is that the author mentions that "several accidents.....have involved teenage drivers." He assumes that the drivers were at fault, but didn't mention if perhaps the other side was at fault. Another one that I identified was that he assumes the parents would let their kids enroll in the course. From my experience, driver's ed courses taught at high schools still cost money, which would not help since these parents didn't want to pay in the first place. Are these two assumptions that I have identified out of the scope or are would they good ones?
  21. Yes, exactly to the latter statement. The insitutional codes themselves were different, but the departments had the exact same code for the 4 I sent to. I just don't really get how they keep your scores on file if you haven't made an account.
  22. lol i'm doing this rihgt now.
  23. I took the GRE today, however, I have not any of my grad school apps. In other words, I have not made an online application account. I had my scores sent to the departments I'm applying for. Since I don't have an account made, will this cause trouble when they receive the scores? Also, what I was confused about when sending scores was the institutional code, which seems to be the same for every university. For example, I sent my scores to the aerospace engineering departments at Princeton, University of Michigan, Caltech; all of these schools had "1601" as there institutional code. Is this code supposed to be the same for the same department at different universities?
  24. Do they actually check your references? I'm a couple of lines over and if I could delete a few references, that'd get me back under the page limit.
