I'm heading to UCONN this fall. It's a very small program, but they offered me a full ride and a well paid assistantship! I went to a private art school for undergrad so I'm excited to experience a university setting. I have been living in NYC and making art for a couple years and am very much looking forward to taking a break from it and focusing on my own studio practice with a positive and supportive group of faculty and students . Congrats to everyone and good luck to those still deciding.

Thanks! I haven't gone yet, still scheduling my visit and interview with them. I have been doing practice interviews with my roommates haha. I think I think I'm ready though.

I got an email asking for an interview from UCONN last week! It's a really small but awesome program... Has anyone been up there to visit? I'm planning on checking it out when I can, I was wondering what the facilities are like though?

Did anyone apply to UCONN by any chance? Have you heard anything?

Hey, RISD asked me for an interview last week via e-mail. That was for the sculpture program though, so I'm not sure if the other departments with in the same time line or anything. Good luck!

Thanks Michael, that makes a lot of sense. Starling I feel like using specific artists in a personal/artists statements may not be the best idea, unless you have a really strong reason like having interned with that particular artist or some other personal connection. Don't you think it's best to be as original as possible? Also to identify the connection you have with your own work. I guess it really depends on your reasons though.

Hello All, Does anyone have any suggestions for the artists statement for the VCU MFA Sculpture application? They don't ask any particular questions and I have an artists statement, but I don't know if they wanted me to talk about why I'm applying, how I want to develop my work etc. Any input would be appreciated!

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the MFA studio program at UCONN? It seems great, it's free and they give you a teaching assistant job. I work full time and am already going to be blowing some money on application fees so I really can't take time off during the week to go to these info sessions at grad schools. How are the studios there? Has the program yielded good alumni? How competitive is it to be accepted? Any information would be appreciated thanks!
