The Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program will NOT be running a FY2012 competition, according to application contacts in the U.S. Department of Education, OPE (ope_javits_program@ed.gov). Whereas for FY2011, the application was posted online on August 13, 2010, with a deadline of September 30, 2010, no application has yet been posted and, worse yet, no acknowledgment of why this is the case, which turns out to be the suspension of the program due to the budget agreement for FY2012, has been provided online. As I recently found out, the only way to get an answer to the question 'Is there going to be a fellowship program this year?' is to call the office [Telephone: (202) 502-7542] as the management and program analysts are not allowed to provide a response via e-mail.
