Hello all! I am interested in applying to a statistics PhD program for Fall 2012. I would like to ask for some of you to look over my credentials and give me some feedback on anything that I could do to improve them. Also I would greatly appreciate any school recommendations for which I would qualify.
Undergrad School: Murray State University
Major: Mathematics
Overall GPA: (currently) 3.69
Major GPA: 4.0
Completed Classes:
Calculus I, II, and III
Linear Algebra
Mathematical Reasoning
Mathematical Statistics I and II
Advanced Calculus I and II
Differential Equations
I am currently taking Mathematical Modeling I and Intro to Topology. Also I will be taking Applied Statistics and Intro to Time Series Analysis (if this latter class is offered) in the spring.
Also of interest, I have taken a course in Visual Basic programming, C++ programming, and will be taking a database class next semester as well.
Research:
Currently working on an NSF funded project through a program called BioMaPS. We will be finishing this up soon and giving several presentations over it, but will probably not be published be the time I will be applying.
I have yet to take the GRE, but will be doing that soon. Also I have no internship or work experience relating to statistics.
Once again I welcome any comments and I thank you for any input.
