Excellent! I was having the same thought only a hoodie instead of t-shirt. Care to make it a group effort? (save on bonfire expenses)

Very nice rejection from Princeton. I can now forever say that I am an ivy reject. Congrats again to the admits!
-
That's awesome! When you 'officially' decide, let me know!
-
I've wrapped up my cycle and I'm still going to commiserate, make lame jokes and in general hang about. I also may finally sleep a full 8 hours again (there have to be a few perks!)
-
Perhaps one day you'll be a professor there. Judging by the mix of admits and rejects I've had, and seen others experience; I think it's pretty clear that life's unpredictable but I think we're all in for a wild ride. I look forward to seeing everyone's name in the APSR one day!

Hey congrats! WAY better than the email I got. Reminding me to pay my car insurance!

How did you broach the subject? To me it seems sort of hard to do.... -
Congrats guys! @Balderdash - no worries, lots of us can not haz Princeton. Solidarity! This concludes the 2012 cycle for me. I'm truly lucky to have to decide between Rochester and UW-Madison now. I sincerely wish all of you the best if you're still waiting for more decisions. Of course I'll still be hanging around

I think you've got it. This effect is magnified by anonymity - think Milgram experiment.
-
Between the unusual nature of this cycle and the trolling: I wouldnt assume anything. Looks like we'll know when an admit or rejection letter are in hand.
-
I see what you did there!

A negative x in this case would be... well... remember in ghost busters... about crossing the beams?
-
Or at least a nonzero, nontrivial monotonic value?

Tell me this ends with William Shattner getting sucked into a ribbon of semi-intelligent cracking energy .... Also anyone see the purported calls from POI's at UCB listed on the survey? Of course they popped up before it was 7 AM in Cali....
-
You two have created a paradox! When RWBG went back in time and erased his post after you'd quoted it, you opened a rift in space-time. That or I need less coffee, less stress and more sleep.... Same difference really.
-
Changing topics a mite - since a Princeton inquiry was already made. What's the majority thought: more trolling and no real results yet?
-
I got a laugh out of this one. At first I thought... Too soon? Then I rolled with it - and lo... It was amusing.
-
Absolutely. Let me know if you do. We should all find time to have a gradcafe beer or two after the stress of this cycle!
-
I'll be at Madison, can't wait! If you dont mind me asking, what are your interests?
-
The person who said they got a call from the DGS at Princeton couldn't spell administrator properly. Either this is a troll or Princeton has *significantly* lowered their standards.....
-
Agreed. I'm of the "claim or it didn't happen" mentality right now.
-
Same situation. Honestly their "check the website, we're not even going to bother contacting you" mentality is a little frustrating but they're definitely kind and sympathetic when you call - so maybe a grad school-wide policy?
-
I think the received wisdom is that Yale is done but with their torturous drip of acceptances, who knows? Also waiting on Princeton, then the cycle is over for me. I didn't apply to GW - so I have no information, I'm sure others do! Best of luck! Justin.

I've declined one so far this year. I wrote a quick email back to the POI who contacted me, sent in the official form with the little decline box ticked, and emailed the DGS expressing my thanks for the opportunity. It may be a bit of a blow to our self esteem, but grad programs will probably "move on quickly" from our "ending the relationship". They've got other grad students to accept off of wait lists (who are probably nearly, if not just as qualified as we are). Just be polite and kind, and you can't go wrong! Congrats on the great offers! Justin

Awesome, it's great to know there will be some friendly faces, and others making the same trip. There's a chance I'll be flying directly to Madison from London, so look out for the jet lagged dude.
