  1. I am studying for GRE currently with Magoosh, but I would rather not have to take it if it wasn't required.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply, I received my B.A. in Criminal Justice, I'm starting to lean toward Political Science but I'm not 100% sure. Not to say it like this but I'm not too concerned what school I would be enrolled in, obviously I'd like it to be a university in good standing but again I'm not aspiring for top tier schools. I know some of the schools like University of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University and others like that don't require you to take the GRE in certain cases but I'd rather have to take it than go to one of those schools.
  3. I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this. I'm honestly just looking for some advice because for the past month or so I've been debating whether to pursue a Graduate degree or not. I realize just by browsing the forum that many of you have received excellent scores on your GRE and have your sites set on higher tier universities. I read several articles that a lot of online graduate programs don't require you to take the GRE. Does anyone have experience with this? Some of the universities are ones that I don't particularly have interest in going to, but some are universities that I've heard very positive things about academically (Boston U, Penn State, Arizona State, etc.). If I sound naive it's because I am, I'm very new to this so if I'm posting in the wrong section or what I'm saying isn't making any sense I only ask if you could be patient. Again, just looking for some advice and I'm not aiming for a top tier university. I'm 27, I have a job, but I am interested in pursuing an online Graduate degree. Thanks if any of you can help.

    New York, NY

Hello everyone. I'm from central NJ so I know the NYC area pretty well, but I did have a few questions about NYU. I'm not sure if I could get into NYU which is why I'm posting on here. Don't worry, I'm going to the campus to talk with an advisor there, but it can't hurt to get some general advice from you fine folks. Anyway, I'm graduating in May of 2012 from Rutgers with a B.S. in criminal justice. I have three minors (criminology, psychology, sociology) and I would be extremely surprised if my GPA wasn't higher than 3.5 when I graduate. I want to apply to NYU for graduate school, and my question is, what do they normally look for? What kind of programs can I get into to better my resumee? My whole life I've wanted to get my Masters from there so it would mean the world to me if I got accepted. I read some of the posts on here and I don't even have the general questions that most people do. I already have a job in the city that I could work part-time in while I get my Masters, and I'd make enough to either keep an apartment or just commute from NJ. Also, does anyone know how many credits NYU requires for an M.S.? I know it can differ depending on what university you're receiving it from. Matt
  5. I'm receiving my B.S. in criminal justice May of 2012 and I'm trying to get prepared for graduate school. I'm finishing my undergrad at Rutgers, and I have always wanted to go to NYU. My question to anyone that might have an answer is, what can I major in at NYU that would benefit me after having a cju B.S. degree? The reason I ask is because they have a school of arts and sciences for graduates, but they don't necessarily have a "criminal justice" department available. I spoke with someone at the university and he said that as long as I meet the requirements (certain preferred minors/classes, GRE's) that I can major in anything as long as its arts and sciences. If anyone has gone there or looked into NYU as a possible graduate school for your M.S. degree please let me know. It would be a great deal of help. Matt
