  1. Mo' money mo' problems! Sorry, no sympathy from a guy who didn't get the PDF .. I'm sure it'll get sorted out.
  2. Hi marmoor, How did you ask for feedback? Did you just send an email to the address provided in your response letter and ask for 'feedback on your application', or is there some special procedure?
  3. Yes, I feel like an a$$ complaining about being on the waiting list, but then again, I've been going crazy constantly thinking about getting the result. This is postdoc purgatory
  4. I'm from Mcgill. I don't know how to find out our ranking on the wait list. Maybe if you email nserc you'll get lucky... keep me posted
  5. Hi marmoor, I'm in the same situation as you: wait-listed and wondering what my chances are of getting good news in June. I don't recall anyone on this forum saying they got PDF. Anyone? anyone...?
  6. ... and because there were not as many tremendous cuts to the PDF program at the time I believe PDF success rates 2-3 years ago were just under 20% while this year and last they are below 10%! Of course I'm sure the people you know fully deserved their awards. Well over 9% deserve this award. Oh well, I guess buying expensive planes is a bigger priority.
  7. Does anyone here have an idea for the chances of getting PDF if on the waiting list? I only know of one person last year go ended up getting PDF around June that way. Or, does anyone know of instances where people were on the waiting list and did NOT get an award in June?
  8. Sure. My field is condensed matter physics. My proposal was on organic photovoltaics. I think I did a pretty good job putting it together. The location of tenure was also well justified (I think that part is also quite important and some applicants don't give it that much thought). At the time of application I had 6 journal articles (5 first author) and 1 accepted. Also a lot of conference presentations (at least 2 per year) and pretty good work experience from my undergrad. I had received a CGS-D2 during my PhD. I'm not too surpised I didn't get it. It's very competitive and there are people out there in the double digits for 1st author pubs.
  9. Hi all, I've also been lurking here for the last couple of weeks. Thanks for all the updates (except those trolls who got all our hopes up about 10 days ago!) Today, I just received my PDF result: rejection but on the waiting list. I'm not sure what the chances are of funds freeing up, but I get to keep my fingers crossed for another 3 months now! The letter came in the mail to Cornwall, ON. Good luck to the rest of you!
