Same thing happened to me last year - it turned out the call was from someone completely irrelevant. Don't worry, if they want to talk to you, they'll definitely send you a message before or after they ring you.

Wow, 360 is fewer than the previous years? Guys, do you think each of our applications are examined thoroughly in these departments?? Now I doubt someone even read my writing sample in Harvard.

I foresee my tears during the Harvard, Stanford and Columbia carnage.

Thank you, optimusrhyme. I hope you are right. I feel weird about this because I witnessed many and lived through one nerve racking interviews process which ended up with an offer with no funding. The longer negotiations get the worse your condition is - that's what it felt like then. But anyway... I'll wait and see as everyone else

But why call me second time? She said she'll have to talk to the graduate committee and then call me again. What is it she's going to discuss with them? Did this happen to anyone else? I hope I didn't say anything foolish. I was too excited.

I've just had a conversation with a professor from the CUNY History Program. She explained to me the funding scheme, asked me if CUNY was my top choice (I said yes), and said she'll call me back again later. What the heck just happened??!!! Did I blow it???

Can't say I'm too nervous about it, but I'm awaiting.

Hi Sophieka, yes, my friends had proper interviews but I'm thinking we might have a different situation here. According to the results page some people who got the same e-mail were offered admission on the phone. So this might actually be good news for us. I'm still nervous though. I'm supposed to have this talk on Wednesday.

Thank you very much !! Speaking of the NYC, I got an e-mail from CUNY today requesting a phone interview. The e-mail said "we'd like to inform you about the committee's deliberations and discuss your interests and plans". I don't know what to think because I have friends who were "interviewed" just to find out their names were on a long waitlist. I wish these people moved in less mysterious ways.

Man, Columbia broke my heart. In case anyone wondering, I'm the Umass Amherst admit on the board. I am wondering if anyone else here in this forum studying/been admitted there. I'd like to exchange some ideas & information. Let's hope this Friday will bring more good news to all of us.

I see one Univ. of Minnesota admit, congratulations !! I was told I'm on their "alternate list", which means "have a nice day" in my book. I just wonder how am I gonna find the patience/energy to play the wait list game this year.

Checked mine. It says "awaiting" for the official test scores. I'm pretty sure they received them before the deadline though. Does it usually take THIS long to attach them to an application? Should I send them an e-mail?

What's going on in Harvard? It looks to me they started arranging interviews and I'm not on their list. Don't know if I should hate or love this results search page.

Well yes, that's the big question. I feel like maybe if I search a bit more, I can find a program which is not so competitive AND suitable for me. On the other hand I'm already sinking in debt so maybe I should just stop and hope for the best.
