Finally heard from NYU today and I got offered an unfunded Masters. Turning it down though. I guess it's at least good to know that one other school kind of wanted me.
-
Well I just accepted WashU's offer of admission. Very excited of course. While I have yet to hear from NYU, this process is over for me!
-
I just emailed them. Did you check that you are willing to consider an MA with them if they reject you for Ph.D.? I did and I suspect that's the reason I haven't heard.
-
Aww, thanks Sigaba! That's the plan of course . I'm lucky to have WashU though. I won a second fellowship in American Studies from them last week, so I don't think I'll be turning them down.
-
I haven't heard from them yet (I assume I'll be rejected too!). But hey, why should it matter, we're both going to WashU next year!
-
That has to be a good sign for you. I was rejected by Virginia last night. Not a big deal for me though because they aren't particularly strong in my period of American History and I definitely wouldn't have gone there. I just got nominated for an additional fellowship in American Studies at WUSTL. Very excited about this opportunity!
-
My adviser is talking to connections she has at the places where I was rejected and I'm getting great feedback and a lot of encouragements to reapply. Now I really have to decide if I should go to WUSTL or wait and reapply next year...
-
Columbia rejection too.
-
Yup. Just got my Harvard rejection. Not exactly crushed though. I was expecting it.
-
Really? I didn't get anything.
-
Oh boy...saw a Harvard rejection on the results board. I'll be expecting a nice little rejection letter waiting for me in the mailbox today. holding on tight to my one acceptance...
-
I'm not in soc but I just saw this thread on the main forum page. What year did you graduate? I did my UG there too....class of 2011.
-
I'm doing the same for WashU!
-
Oh Sandy I'm so sorry you're upset. I've felt pretty down a few times this season myself. Please don't give up hope. I know NYU for one is still very much in the game right now and I don't think I've heard anything about Clark.
-
I know how you feel. I get the same feeling whenever I see an acceptance from a school that I applied to.
-
I know. I am too. I had already kind of accepted my rejections until my adviser said that she was "truly startled" by what happened. That made me realize that maybe I am qualified enough to apply to these schools and that maybe it isn't just a natural thing that I'd be rejected.
-
Rejected by Yale but honestly I don't mind. I was ready for it.
-
Make a profile here and it will tell you if you've been googled.
-
Yup! I'm not even thinking about Yale anymore.
-
I didn't mean do anything official yet. Just stop worrying and start thinking about the fact that I have a grad school to go to--and learn as much as possible about it--rather than obssess over the ones I haven't heard from.
-
I think for my own sanity I ought to just presume I'm going to WashU and start making plans for that (not that anything is wrong with WashU of course!). Tired of worrying about other schools.
-
So it begins again. Congrats to the Rutgers admit!
-
Another UNC admit...I wonder if it was an official email or one from a POI....
-
Not sure if I can deal with that right now...

Yes I understand the value of connections and already know that Ive made a great one at Duke (which rejected me) but she also explicitly talked about the possibility of me coming there and working with me.
