  1. Didn't get in anywhere. For those of you who did congratulations! For those like me who didn't keep your head up and keep writing. - Miranda
  2. Janesays congrats on IU as well. It's good to know someone who's on the same boat. Jam2011, I found out friday through e-mail.
  3. I like that, Stacey Rose. Yes Master seems pretty fitting. I just got an invitation to interview over the phone with the head of playwriting at Indiana Bloomington. Does anybody know what they usually ask at these phone interviews?!? I'm freaking out, I feel I do much better at normal interviews where I can actually look at the person I'm speaking to. Has anybody here done this before?
  4. Janesays, Rejection from Brown (same boat here Flyrail). Still waiting on WUSTL and Indiana. This is my second year too. I know it's dissapointing but dont be discouraged. I also wonder what I'm doing wrong but then I remember that I truly believe in my piece and in my accomplishments listed in my application. Good luck with UCSD, that's a very good program I wish I had applied to. I guess we'll be sweating out Indiana together.
  5. waiting on WUSTL, Brown and Indiana Bloomington. Anyone heard anything on these schools?
  6. heckleher, I didn't make the Brooklyn College deadline but I heard they should be letting people know really soon. Good luck! I did also hear they are not the most organized of offices. Since you're from Austin, how selective is Michener playwriting? I literally can't wait til I'm notified of acceptances/rejections. I just hate not knowing right now.
  7. Hey Heckleher, We'll definitely be sweating it out with you. I made the Brown deadline on the last day (I had some problems with the references link), and now I'm finishing a couple more applications. You certainly applied to some of the tougher schools to get in, and I wish you the best. Do you also want to to do screenwriting on the side or is that just a back-up plan?
  8. Tgibfo, I wouldn't write the essay on a play you wrote. If you haven't directed anything besides your own work then you might be better off mentioning that in your application and choosing a well-known play that you like or feel passionate about. They want to know how well you can analyze a play's script and express your ideas on what the author's meaning/interpretation of the work. If you write the essay on a piece which they do not know/or have no access to, how will they measure your interpretive and analitical skills? hope this might help
  9. Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum. Just like janesays I'm getting ready to apply for my MFA playwriting again. I applied only to Brown last year (first time ever) and got rejected. Í'm narrowing down my list this year to a handful of schools and although I already have some big names (WUSTL, Northwestern, Brown) I'm interested in some other schools that are not usually at the top of the list like Indiana University, Arizona State, Arkansas Fayetteville, or Catholic University in DC. Does anyone have some more info on the reputation of these schools? I kind of want to apply just to the schools that I know for sure offer full funding to all accepted (so NYU, Columbia, Yale, Sarah Lawrence are out) but I don't know if that's a smart thing to do, or should I just apply to as many as I can? Like I said I'm kind of new to this process, but I'm definitely committed to it, even if it takes years. Thanks, any help would be great!
