  1. I'm not familiar with TCU's program, but I did apply to ASU and FSU for their rhet/comp programs this year. I ended up receiving funded offers from both schools. My general impression of FSU was that they had a very active department with lots of opportunity for collaboration, but I was concerned about the lack of variety in their course offerings. I ended up choosing ASU because I think there's a lot of exciting work coming out of the program right now, and I feel confident that I can hold my own in a large program. Leaps and bounds better? I don't think so, but I don't pay attention to rankings, so others might have different opinions. Bottom line, if you've narrowed it down to these three schools, I would consider visiting them and talking with faculty and current students to get a good impression.
  2. An update to my earlier post. I have also rejected Ball State University and am sending out my acceptance to Arizona State today. I am also a rhet/comp student.
  3. I am a PhD applicant in Composition & Rhetoric with an emphasis in WPA and assessment. I declined two funded offers today from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Florida State University. I have also removed my name from the Bowling Green State University funding waitlist. I have not accepted an offer from my school yet, so I'll hold off on posting that information.
  4. I heard from the Graduate Coordinator today, and she said that I have been accepted but am on the waitlist for funding. Does anyone know how many students ASU typically funds versus the number of accceptances they make? I know that Nebraska-Lincoln accepts many more students than they have money for, but I don't know about Arizona. I'm just trying to decide if it's in my best interest to wait it out.
  5. I emailed Bowling Green this weekend to ask about a timeframe for decisions because I have a school asking for an early commitment. According to Dr. Gephardt, the admissions committee is still in the early stages of decision-making, and they are meeting again early this week to discuss. He couldn't give me any definite dates, but they are hard at work looking at applications.
  6. I know Purdue responds very late in the season (late March or April), so I'm with you waiting for them. When I applied to the MA at BGSU and Miami last year, I didn't hear anything until March. I think most of your schools do not reply very early with the possible exception of OSU. I've heard that some people have received acceptances to Ohio State, but I haven't heard anything either. So far, I've only heard from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Ball State, so I'll just keep waiting on the eight remaining schools. I'm thinking March will be the magic month for most of us. Good luck!
