  1. As much as I hope this isn't the case, I think that you're right. If only ND would just go ahead and reject me! It will suck, but then I can move on.
  2. I've noticed many lurkers here recently (as I type this, there are 7 members and 19 guests reading the thread). I encourage everyone to emerge from the shadows. It won't make you any more neurotic about this process than you already are, and it may even help. The success of the board depends on the flow of information. We are far more likely to accept info in the Results Survey when someone claims it in the forum.
  3. That's the only way Notre Dame could get better in my book.
  4. I'm fearing the same thing. I really thought that was an excellent fit.
  5. I hope you enjoy your trip, and good luck getting funding. Someone on the Results Survey said that UK doesn't finish making funding decisions until May. That seems absurdly late. Here's hoping you find out much sooner!
  6. It's about time for you to hear some good news. We're all pulling for you!
  7. Ok. That makes sense. I know on the LSAT, there are certain scores that are impossible from one test to the next, depending on the distribution. I didn't know if the new GRE would work in a similar way. So evidently, the reported scores are possible. There are certainly people on this board capable of getting such scores. I, however, am still skeptical of the Yale acceptance.
  8. http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/concordance_information.pdf The person claiming a Yale acceptance reported a 169V/170Q. I don't think that the quantitative score is possible.
  9. If you check the conversion table from ETS, you will see that certain GRE scores are not possible. When someone says that s/he has that score, it makes me very skeptical. Then again, maybe it's just a typo.
  10. I spend more than that in rent alone.
  11. Interesting... ? I've been in class for 3 and a half hours. I have 3 hours to go. I just want to go to bed. There was a burst of activity on the board earlier (thanks to some lovely poetry), but as far as entertainment, GradCafe has been failing me the last couple of days. EDIT: BTW, I see a new Rochester acceptance went up. Congrats!
  12. I applied and definitely appreciate you for posting an update. Thanks!
  13. grantman mentioned it a little earlier in the thread. Sorry to hear about it!
  14. I really don't need to read this stuff while in class. Teachers seem to frown on random laughter.
  15. I don't like it. Not only are schools not making decisions, people on the board aren't putting up new posts. It's too quiet. GradCafe is supposed to entertain me!
  16. At least there is still hope. Thanks so much for letting us know!
  17. ND is the one I want, and I still haven't heard a thing.
  18. Of course, we are thrilled to have you back!
  19. I wouldn't worry about the reputation points. They are nonsense (says the person who has been in the negative since joining). I think it's nice to try to empathize, but it can be hard right now. You have one person worrying about trading her mansion for a palace, while many are still homeless. Without making any judgment of the OP's character, some people were just pointing out that the thread can come across as insensitive and entitled.
  20. Congrats! Vandy is weird.
  21. I second this. EDIT: My remark was snarky. I don't need any more negative reputation points.
  22. I went straight from undergrad to a JD/MPP. Now I'm applying for a PhD. I can say with certainty that I would have been unprepared for a PhD right out of undergrad. For me, that was entirely due to the undergrad I attended. It was a small, private school that lacked any rigor. I think that the JD was a good step toward the rigors of a PhD. It is certainly possible that someone's undergraduate experience could adequately prepare them for grad school. One advantage of heading straight in is that you'll finish at a younger age. Furthermore, you are still acutely aware of what it is like to live as a student. The biggest concern that I have is the possibility of getting burned out.
  23. I had been thinking that today would be busy. Maybe tomorrow...
  24. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I applied to Theory there b/c I'm a huge fan of Prof. Stoner. I haven't been able to find out much regarding funding. Prof. Stoner put me in contact w/ the Director of Admissions, but he was evasive on the subject of funding. I'm excited about the acceptance at UT. Their funding isn't quite as nice as a lot of schools, but I'm sure I'll survive if my wife is able to find a job in Austin.
  25. Is there a chance that anyone else applied to LSU? The Results Survey doesn't offer much by way of decisions from previous years.
