  1. I definitely would wait to hear about funding. I think your acceptance of their offer is official when you respond by email.
  2. I think that it's cool for the bird to whirl in here. The "normal people" are inclusive; we don't shun the elites.
  3. I was rejected at Vandy too. It wasn't at the top of my list, but rejections suck regardless. I'm originally from the Nashville area, and I think it would have been a great place to return to for graduate study.
  4. I'm glad to find this thread. I've been living in the other main thread for days now and never really ventured out to look at anything else. The top 15 schools don't really match my interests very well, and I doubt I'd be very competitive anyway. It's refreshing to see some "normal people" on this site. You could easily be tricked into thinking that everyone else had a near-perfect GRE.
  5. I shall join you both.
  6. I'm assuming that the second person broke down and called also. I have yet to hear a word from Vandy. I'm expecting a rejection, but I'm not about to call.
  7. I'm in a slightly different position. My undergrad and MPP GPAs are high, but my law GPA isn't quite so good. Of course, law school has a wicked curve, but I don't have a clue how grad schools will interpret it. I agree, though, that I high graduate GPA will go a long way to overcome a lower undergrad GPA.
  8. A Chicago acceptance is up for anyone interested. When will Texas send out the rest!?!?
  9. Excellent! Congratulations.
  10. Reasons to hate the Patriots: http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2012/02/new_england_patriots_10_reason.html I'm sure we could add to the list, but this should be sufficient.
  11. @balderdash I'm glad that at least one of us was able to think of something else for a little while. But... a Patriots fan?
  12. I'm crossing my fingers for WUSTL.
  13. LOL. I wonder if I'll even make the JV squad.
  14. Congrats on the Berkeley acceptance. I was beginning to wonder if anything would happen today.
  15. I'm with you there. According to the Results Survey, the earliest I could expect to hear anything would be late next week. I don't know if my nerves can hold on that long.
  16. Earlier, I got a bunch of negative reputation points for being skeptical about self-reported stats. You are right though; those were incredible stats. Assuming they are real, it just reinforces the idea that the whole package is important. Rather than being a comforting fact, it is nerve-wracking. I don't have a clue what my LORs look like. BTW, sorry to all the guys who just heard back from UMich. It looks brutal. EDIT: The stats referenced were a 4.00 GPA, 730V/780Q, and 5.5W.
  17. What was your subfield at ND? Mine was Constitutional Studies, but Theory would be my secondary. GTown was by far the most expensive of my options, so knocking it off doesn't hurt too bad (now that Deneen is gone).
  18. I was pretty shocked when I read Prof. Deneen's post a few days ago on Front Porch Republic. His departure probably means that I am an auto-reject at Georgetown, yet the post pretty much convinced me that GTown wasn't right for me anyway. ND has cemented its place at the top of my list. I just hope that I have a chance and that we hear something soon.
  19. Someone mentioned earlier that he has a class (in undergrad) with another person who also received an acceptance. EDIT: A new person just popped up w/ a waitlist. I'm guessing it's real.
  20. This can be expected from you CafeAuLait, and unfortunately, I don't have a good reply. But seriously, where's the commitment to your home state?
  21. SEC Football > any other division & any other sport
  22. Oh well. Nashville is awesome, but maybe something else will work out.
  23. Primarily, I'm interested in legal theory (at most schools my subfield would be constitutional studies or public law). At Indiana, however, I'm mainly interested in Professor Craiutu's work on Tocqueville. What about you other theory guys?
  24. This is good to hear regarding Vandy. I was a bit discouraged that I didn't get an interview. I also applied to Indiana (subfield: theory). Thanks for the info "iwouldpreferanonymity."
  25. I'm just referring to the "Results Survey" that you can access at the top of this page. I wasn't the one who posted the acceptance, but that user mentioned receiving an email directing him/her to check the website.
