Hi, I am a computer science graduate from the university of illinois at Urbana Champaign. I graduated with a gpa of 3.35 this summer. My major gpa is a 3.45. While my gpa is mediocre at best, the thing is that my junior/senior years have been decent. My cumulative junior/senior year gpa is a 3.75. I had a really torrid sophomore year (my first year at UIUC) and finished with a gpa of a 2.51. Most of my higher level classes were in junior and senior years.

1 paper in an IEEE conference. 3rd author.
1 chapter publication in an Elsevier book. 2nd author.
1 more in the pipeline though that will probably be too late for the december applications.
I have started applications at Georgia Tech, Ann Arbor, UT Austin, Wisconsin Madison, Northwestern and Minnesotta Twin Cities. I have been able to coerce three of my professors into submitting recommendations. All of them are in CS professors( well, counting Assistant and Associate profs) and one of them is very respected in the field i wish to work in.
I am really worried about my gpa and if I have any chance of getting into places like ann arbor, georgia tech and such. If not should I aim lower. Do universities take junior/senior year gpa into consideration. Any opinion would be welcome.
thank you
