  1. I told them I wouldn't be going if they don't fund me lol, which is actually true. Said it in of course more tactful language in my letter...

Yes, I tried that. But Steven Westfall could see right through me, he knows how much I love rutgers. fucking ah! show us the money!!!

  2. Check out this amazing place in Highland Park:

    http://cnj.craigslist.org/apa/2953792992.html

It says it's a one bedroom with a 'den'. I would totally be town to having my room in the den, straw picking for a room, whatever, and splitting the rent for this amazing apartment with someone! Rent would be cheap as hell, $625 a month AND the lease begins on JULY 1st, the day we get to move in the studios!

PM if you are interested or just want to concider!

    xo

  3. Any word when we might hear about our TA'ship applications? I can't accept the place they gave me if I don't get one...

no word yet. Stephen said april/ early may.

  4. I am just looking for roommate(s).

I am an amazing cook, clean, peaceful, and respectful. I will be in the studio constantly so it would just be nice to find a good group of people to live with. I am looking to get a place in Highland Park. Anine said that is the place to be: its quaint, safer than NB, and beautiful. It is just right across the bridge, a 15 minute walk to the studios. I went running there when I visited and thought it was great.

I also would like to move in around July 1st as we can move into our studios then!!! Super exciting. Studio time and trips to the beach and nyc. Sounds excellent.

Hit me up if you are interested!

  5. I am so excited!!!

OK-- so I am thinking of starting a FB group for students going to Rutgers so we can all communicate about things such as moving/living arrangements/anything else/just getting excited.

So, if you want me to add you, message me your full name and I'll hook you up!

  6. Thank you! Also, just wanted to share (for those who don't know), even if you don't receive a fellowship there are still many opportunities for PTL (Part Time Lecturer) teaching positions. My friend is a second year now @ Rutgers, and he said that while he was disappointed with not getting a fellowship for financial reasons, the PTL positions allowed him more time to focus on his work while still being able to teach & list that he was Part Time Faculty at Rutgers on his CV.

And to echo a post above, I've also heard that the jury isn't out on all of the fellowships. In speaking with Anine and Stephen, it seems like they are waiting to hear from everyone and then they'll be able to give everyone solidified financial info.

    Hey-- your work is gorgeous.

  7. I just called Tyler to find out my status as they had promised to have the verdicts out by the end of this week. They immediately transfered me to Nicole, Director of Admissions and she told me I was waitlisted.

The April 15th shuffle is going to be very interesting!

hey, thanks for posting this... me too!

  8. All this talk about the program is making me hope even more I get off the wait list. I really hope some people decline their admission decisions soon. I want to go back for another visit soon, I'm afraid I might not get the chance before the semester ends. If I do, I'll post what my experience was like.

I'd also like to mention though, being that we are talking about the school and it's location, is that it is really close to Newark which is an awesome city. A lot of people do not realize how many cool places for art Newark has. It's no Chelsea, but There are some great galleries, studio spaces, and cafes/coffee houses. If you go to Rutgers, I hopes many of you go check it out. PM me if any of you want to know of places to check out there

    Hi there tysonr2!

Some news for you. Being on the waitlist is very good. We all have to notify Rutgers by April 2nd if we are going to attend. With that said, I think you will find yourself some luck!

  9. Zecchi, how did you like it? When I was there, I sat in on a class and was really impressed. I'd love to hear more about what you thought!

You've got it! It is amazing. The faculty is a freaking all star cast. The work blew my mind. The studios very in size but seem to work out for everyone. There is a new visiting artist every single week. It is so close to nyc. After talking with many students, it seems to be an ongoing trend that students will work their asses off mon-fri then get on a train and rock it out in nyc for the weekend.

I went running through the next town, Highland Park, and it was incredibly quaint and beautiful-- that is where most MFA students live and I am hoping to move their. I mean, the campus itself is definitely removed from any sort of larger art scene... the only coffee places are Starbucks and DD! But-- that just means we will have to brew some of our own in the studio.

Could I get your real name, perhaps? It would be good to connect with my future cohort...

  10. Hi everyone! So, anyone here for sure going to Rutgers. I am definitely thinking about it. My experience there was amazing to say the least. We can move into our studios July 1st!!!! So I am looking for potential roommates...

    This is so exciting!
